New subway and bus fares in NY: $2.25. Boo, hiss! But I suppose NY has to recoup the losses from the shrunken Wall Street tax base somehow.
I got myself a green tea fro-yo at Red Mango and it wasn't bad. I'd prefer my green tea flavors little more sweetness, generally, but I topped it with yogurt chips and that actually added back the sweetness into the dessert. I also had a brief moment of mouth, throat, and neck freeze, but it was worth it. Although: man, fro-yo is expensive. More than $5 for a small cup and one topping, yikes!
Speaking of spending exorbitant amounts of money, I decided to do my monthly expense tally early this month since the pile of receipts had reached alarming size. Usually I count up how much money I've spent in the past month (broken down into categories like groceries, travel, restaurants/food out, etc) on the last day of the month but I got the feeling that this would be one of those special 30 day periods. I was right: I spent double the amount of money I spent in the month of May, half of it going towards clothing. Most of the clothing is for work and what I'd consider a more or less one time investment (hopefully it'll be good for the next five years at least). Some of it is also due to adjusting to new workplace habits--that is, buying lunches and dinners out. I'm going to have to switch back to bringing my own lunches soon and figure out how to make dinners that are easy, fast, and edible immediately after work when I am most hungry and most tired, and therefore most liable to give up and order takeout or pick something up on the way back. So I expect my food spending to go down significantly too. Anyway, despite the alarming 100% increase in income out, I expect the figures to go down again shortly once I'm done buying suits/shirts/pants.
I'm exhausted now, both physically and mentally. My calves and feet are killing me from walking for about 5 hours straight. I will recount my shopping escapades from today tomorrow.
