spotlights don't do you justice, baby

I played Sims 3 today. The graphics are gorgeous (especially on my father's gigantic HD TV) and the tutorials are helpful. The controls are less intuitive, in some ways, than the Sims 2, but I heartily approve of some of the changes they've made--specifically to the skills system. Now you can gain skills by doing more activities relating to them (such as becoming more charismatic by socializing sucessfully with people, working on logic skill by solving unsolveable math problems). Also, the ability to customize your Sims even further is nice. I do miss being able to go to college with my sims, though. Still, overall, I like it. Although I don't think my regular laptop has the horsepower needed to play it.

I've also been playing Persona 4. Great game. Nice graphics (for a PS2), good voice acting, great writing and storylines. This game in the series deals with questions of identity--including, interestingly enough, one of the main characters grappling with his possible bi/gay identity. I was impressed.

Also, on a different note: last week was intense. Lots of going out and about, seeing friends, eating at restaurants, going to bars... Made me realize that I'm really out of shape. Time to hit the gym. It's sad that I'm so tired already.
