Just finished singing for Helmuth. He said that I had a lovely Soprano voice (actually he said that I have a lovely Soprano woice). YEA! I was pretty happy with how it went. The first half was wonderful. After the break we did the Benedictus and my voice totally malfunctioned. It was dry and my voice is starting to get really tired so all the notes between middle c and g were a bit fuzzy. The high stuff was ok and eventually I got the other bits working. However, the conductor who was working the Benedictus is (in my opinion) the best in the class and therefore it did not need much rehearsal which means that I never really got to redeem myself. The Agnus was ok but it just doesn't show my voice off as well. And I only got to sing my B once which made me sad.
But it's over and now it's on to the next thing. We are performing the first half of the Haydn mass at 2:30 for the discovery series. Then we will have a short rehearsal tonight with Helmuth. My voice is seriously starting to go. It's just not as strong as I would like it to be. I can't decide if I should take it easy and sing half voice for the rest of the festival or just throw it all to the wall and enjoy what little I can.
