Gale announced her retirement yesterday. Big surprise. Personally, I think they either offered to let her retire or she knew something was up and retired before they could fire her. So she's out of here as of July 31st. Seems strange that she gave such short notice. I guess July 31st is a while off. But knowing Yale, there is no WAY they'll have a replacement by then.
In other work news, the word is officially out: Natasha will be the new me next year. She'll start the week I get back from Oregon which will give me two weeks to teach her everything I know. I feel like I'm leaving my guys in good hands with her so I'm very excited.
Tonight, we are having a cranium night. I hope people can come! Cranium nights are the best but only when a bunch of people come. Here's hoping. (Marisa, I didn't send you the email but if you are for some strange reason in town you are expected to be there, of course!)
I've decided that we need new luggage. One cross country trip and one trans-atlantic move in a two month period with luggage that doesn't even really zip just isn't going to work. There is a Samsonite outlet store up 95 so I'm going to try to convince Derek that we should go and shop on Saturday. I know he's going to be stuborn because he's really paranoid about money right now but we HAVE to get new luggage. Ours just won't cut it.
Tomorrow night we are taking Bella to Kaji's to see how she manages in Kaji's home and around Kaji's cat. If all goes well Bella will be staying with Kaji while we are away and *hopefully* while we are in Germany. I'd SO much rather her stay with Kaji than with Derek's parents. I just don't think she'll get the kind of love she is used to at the farm. They make her stay outside all the time and then she'll get dirty and then they won't want anything to do with her. I just feel much better leaving her with a dog lover than with non-dog lovers. So we'll drive down to Rowayton, see Kaji's place and then go to a lovely pizza place that allows dogs in the outdoor seating area for dinner. Should be a nice evening. Here's hoping Bella behaves!
