(no subject)
Trying to stay focused at work. I just keep thinking "two more weeks, two more weeks, two more weeks." I have a few things to keep me busy (checking the library for works that Simon's lining up for next year and preparing for this afternoon's interviews) but it's all pretty mindless. I can safely say I will be so happy when in two weeks I am arriving in Portland for three weeks of choral singing. What a nice break!
So happy to have Derek back. I didn't really realize how much I missed him until he was home. He sang with us yesterday at Christ Church. I managed to get through the service without crying although I did get a little choked up during the Sowerby. Hearing that organ swell for the last time almost did me in. After church we went out for lunch with Danielle, Sylvia, Zach, Marisa, and Alistair. It was great fun. The plan had been to go to Olive Garden but their power went out (second time that's happened to us!) so we went to Outback instead. Everyone bought my lunch which was a nice send off.
When we got home we took Bella for at trip to the park. It was the most beautiful day. Then we came home and played recorders. Derek bought me a soprano recorder and himself and alto recorder and all kinds of method books. I have to say it was a LOT of fun. We spread a blanket out on the living room floor and opened all the windows. Our method books are the same so every exercise is played in parallel fourths. It took about 20 minutes before I could play one without laughing. Derek's convinced we are going to become some amazing duo only to add our kids when they are old enough. We'll see. Personally I suck so maybe I'll be the groups manager!
I really want to go see DaVinci Code tonight but Derek says we have to curb spending. Personally I don't think the $20 at the movies is too much when compared to the $100 he spent on our recorders. Bah.
