ATONEMENT
ahhhh this is the greatest movie/book ever. go read it. or see it. pshh.
it's a story about a young girl, briony, who misinterprets several incidents she witnesses between her older sister, cecelia, and the boy who works for the family, robbie. with her vast imagination, briony falsely accuses robbie of committing a horrible crime. the lovers are separated and WWII begins. the rest of the story centers around the results of the lie and how greatly it affected each character. as briony matures, she realizes that she made a horrible mistake and desperately searches to find atonement.
