Looking back at this decade

In the spirit of many of the year-end posts, I took some time today to look back at this decade, which started for me 10 years ago driving a bus back from the Arrow terminal in Denver watching firework displays across Nebraska. My life really changed over these ten years...what a decade!

MUSIC
Became Associate Artistic Director of Voices of Omaha; led worship at 2 regional Mennonite Brethren events; stepped down from the Nebraska Choral Directors Board after 6 wonderful years; joined the 2006 North Central ACDA Convention Committee as PR Co-Director; launched the bell program at Lake Harriet CC; sang with Exultate; founded Timbre; took the position at Living Spirit UMC; led worship at North Central Jurisduction Race & Religion Event; sang in Paul and Bill's wedding in Maine; attended my first Chorus America conference; helped lead worship at Regional Assembly in Des Moines; lead 3 workshops for School of Congregational Learning

WORK
Executed largest one-day bus move in Arrow Stage Lines history (150 buses and 10,000 students); took position at Northfield Lines in Minnesota; appointed to American Bus Association Convention Committee; position cut at Northfield and had to go back to driving (the up side of which I got to DC twice and Mackinac Island); accepted position at History Theatre (Back to the arts where I belong!);served on board of Tour Minnesota Association and elected President; took my dream job at COMPAS; elected to United Arts Fund Council through Americans for the Arts; appointed to board of Our Giving Community; elected Vice President of Board; helped board make decision to dissolve OGC

EDUCATION
Completed Mini-MBA in Non-Profit Organizations at University of St. Thomas; accepted at Phillips Theological Seminary to start in 2010

FAMILY
Mom has massive physical and mental breakdown in 2002 and nearly lose her; Aunts Barb, Norma and Marge leave us due to cancer; Grandma Hines passes in 2005; Mom's condition continues to deteriorate to point where I place her in nursing home in 2007. Dad's cousins find me and I discover many relatives in Sweden

PERSONAL
Right hand severly burned in cooking accident; gall-bladder surgery; attended first Bear Event in NYC and realized I could no longer continue to live the facade of a "Straight Man"; met Keith, separated from wife and moved into Scott & Erik's house; divorce final; Keith and I move in together, lose more weight; really become who I am meant to be

TRAVEL
Goodness, I went a lot of places! Seattle, Spokane, Chicago, Indianapolis, Vancouver BC, San Diego, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Washington DC, New York City, Boston, Oguinquit, Maine, Virginia, Louisville, Las Vegas, Philadelphia, Lancaster, Bellingham, Yakima Wine Valley, Leavenworth, Denver
