I'm surprised. I thought the film was well done. I must say it's not the kind of film you watch to feel good about life, and to feel all warm and fuzzy, but then again I suspect that wasn't the intent either.
Two comments:
1. If you have not lived in the black and psychotic world of extreme trailer trash crank addiction, the film will probably seem completely unrealistic and you'll chalk it up as just another hipsterized PulpFictionTrainspottingNaturalBornKillers kinda thang, well, I have to say that from personal experience almost every part of the film reminded me of a time long ago that I experienced first hand in the East county of San Diego.
2. Oh, by the way, the hipsterized camera stuff.. that, I didn't experience ;-) But I must admit, the editing effects really did a good job of portraying the mindset of the tweaked and insane
In summary: I really liked this film in the same way I liked Pulp Fiction & Natural Born Killers (I wasn't really into Trainspotting, probably the baby stuff just went too far for me)
However, like the above mentioned films, I felt a wee bit exhausted and my nerves are shot and I don't think it'll be a film I watch over and over again, but it's just one of those films that may (or may not) speak to you.
The moral of the story: For some of us people on the planet, crank/speed/meth/whatever.. is BAD.
For others? Who am I to say ;-)
