**I started writing this hours ago, but I got a call from my friend Heather and she's on the road driving back from California, so we talked for quite a while... the retreat she went on, 'intentional communities', diet, water's ability to hold "memories" and to heal, spiritual addictions, SEX addictions.. (hippies and otherwise "spiritual" people ( Read more... )

.....so different from back East

Where back East are you from?

I (we) enjoyed listening to your latest new songs with your singing friend Heather. They are beautiful songs.......Gwydion and i got talking about your music in the car yesterday and we ended up singing "It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring (he bumped his head and he went to bed and he couldn't get up in the morning)".
Then followed the topic of concussion.........

I didn't know that Seattle could be so hot! I want rain!!!!!!!!!!

Connect-i-cut is where I was born, and where I spent most of my first 20 years (with a brief stint in California as a 5 year old). There are things I loved about "back East", and then there are the reasons I moved, and why I've never looked back (plus I LOVE THE RAIN!) :-)

Oh and thank you for the kind comments about the music, Heather is truly gifted, and we've only just gotten started. After we work out the kinks and get settled in, I believe we'll have a lot more music to share. I'm so glad you enjoyed the Raining song, I've been carrying that around in my head for a couple of years (in that improvised form), and to be honest, I had forgotten how the lyrics really went until you posted them!

And please do be careful, passing out is ok, but no concussions or injuries! :-)

So, is vacation over for our favourite graphic artist?

Almost. Just one more week and it's back to cigar and a brandy at 8pm (instead of lasting into the wee hours of twilight) and morning coffee at 7am instead of noon. I'm sure if we sit completely still for 7 days that time will go by really slow and therefore make the vacation last longer.

Gwydion is from Cincinnati. We recently hooked up with a group of Eastcoasters-living-in-Seattle-who-miss-the-Eastcoast mentality, and i must say that this is the most outgoing and lively bunch of people whom i've met so far since being in Seattle. Very amusing.

The bit about concussion.......I was told that the old man snoring who bumped his head and went to bed and couldn't get up in the morning was because lying down or going to sleep after a concussion can cause a form of coma....hence the not waking up thing. Like the nursery rhyme "Ring of roses" is really about the plague.........

Morning coffee at noon, indeed, it's 11:30 now and I'm going to have my first cup!

Wow, a whole gathering of East coast personalities! (that's why I'm out here.. I can only tolerate people like me in small doses!) ;-)

Well, now I'm off to educate myself properly about the origin and meaning of all of these childrens' songs, poems, and stories.. I heard that many of Grimms' tales and others were not quite as innocent as many of us would have thought.. well, this sounds like fun.

ok, I found my first fun interpretation of 'Ring around the Roses', Shiva and 'Ring around the Rosy',
..the beauty of the internet is that you can find anything you want, and in this case I found an interpretation that actually sounds quite nice!

The plague? I'll take shiva instead. I sent this to my daughter to read because her nickname is 'Ash', as referenced in the Shiva-Rosy article. Thanks! :-)
