Health Question

Ok, so for those of you who know about this stuff or are working on it and can point me in the right direction, this post is a question from me to you.

I'm trying to lose weight. Working out 6 days a week has prevented me from gaining weight. Yay! That's a victory in itself but I'm frustrated. I want to lose. It's the food. I know it is. Well that and I am not drinking enough water but I'm working on that.

Here's the deal. I'm trying to eat healthier. I decided I need to start doing what my program calls for and eat throughout the day. Every 2-3 hours. Meals & snacks. The key is calorie counting. Now, how do I know how many calories I need to eat? I tried google's nutritional needs calculator. They estimated about 1800 cal. a day for me. Does that sound accurate?

Is there somewhere else that you know of that is accurate and free? I mean, I'm serious about losing weight and I'm trying I really am. Beachbody can give you that information but you have to get a club membership which costs money per month. My former roommate lost a ton of weight using weight watchers but that costs money too. Isn't there some way that I can do this on my own...for free??

HELP.
