There are wild strawberries growing in Mt. Hope Cemetery. I think that is really cool, but I also think that I would not be comfortable eating said strawberries. Would you?
When/if I ever get pregnant (not that I’m currently trying to, or have any immediate plans to be so), I will go to the cemetery and look at all the old names to find one for my unborn baby (HI BABY!). The best one I saw the last time I went and did this (I was not - repeat - was not pregnant) was Permelia. I also saw and liked Jocelyn. I had a great aunt named Adeline and I like that one too. Other names that I like: Ariadne, Atalanta, Azrael, Mordecai, and Mordred (although I would never be so horrible to name a child that).
I was looking at the old death records for the early days of the cemetery (1830’s - 1850’s). They’re really sad. Causes of death: Teething, chickenpox, child bed, sore mouth, sore throat, killed by cars, railroad accident, hit by lightning. Very few murders, though. A lot of drownings. There was a 13 year old that died of puerperal fever. A twelve year old suicide. Tons of stillborns (usually without given names).
Why did Heath Ledger have to die? I recognize that I am avoiding very many detrimental issues affecting our world today by focusing on the death of a single individual that I didn’t ever know, but I always thought he seemed like a good person. Not that I ever spent a lot of time thinking on him.
Ok, so I don't do this enough - I could never do this enough - but I don't let my friends know how much they mean to me and how incredibly awesome they are (I would be hard put to find any more friends more awesome than the ones I currently have - I'm sure that I could find them if I really tried, but it just wouldn't be the same). Anyway, you guys and girls - you are awesome. I love you with all my heart and soul and other little squishy bits too.
