Rating: Pg - Nc-17
Summary: Mob wars are painting the streets of Hong Kong and Japan red with blood ensnaring the rogue cop in its wake. Can Yunho find him in time to save him and is he ready for what he finds? Can the gangs unite to stop the violence or will they tear each other apart with their greed?

Yunho sat on the park bench for the tenth time in the past five weeks if he recalled correctly.

The bench sat facing the large grassy area that he used to enjoy playing in as a small child. He remembered the grass being a lot greener back then, not the sickening yellow it appeared to be now. There were no broken swing sets or rusted over monkey bars like the ones he was now staring at, nor were there any drug dealers waiting in the shadows of the public bathroom to make their next sale.

There were also no gang members waiting for him back then either.

Looking towards the scarred and neglected building Yunho appraised the graffiti scrawled over the walls, black squiggles like a five year old had run amuck with a can of spray paint. He recognized the symbols easily, markings of the Rising Sun, markings he had spent all of the previous night scrawling on city walls.

Looking down at himself, Yunho hopped; as he had hopped ten times previous, that he had picked out the right clothing, picked the right cologne that wouldn’t give his occupation away. The warn denim sat comfortably over his long legs while his sleeveless shirt displayed well muscled arms. He had been choosing contacts over glasses, earrings adorning both lobes.
His wife had barely recognized him the very first day. He had watched the shocked fear flash across her face before she understood, and that; if anything, made him at least a little more confident in his decision making process.

With a puff of air pushed out of his pursed lips the detective slowly watched as the man he had been answering to nodded in his direction. He had been receiving his instructions from the man who had introduced himself as Donghae, anything from spray painting public property to running information and small packages of illegal goods with the hopes of learning something useful about the man behind it all.

But it seemed like the more questions he asked the more answers he didn’t have. Either no one was talking, or no one knew where the head of the dragon really lie. He couldn’t even sniff out any information about Kim Junsu. It was like the man didn’t exist and now Yunho’s only hope of finding out anything lied with being able to infiltrate deeper into the underbelly of the crime world.

Standing slowly on what felt like rubber legs, Yunho walked towards the opposite side of the building where he was to meet the man he knew would be leaning against the hidden façade.

“Yo, you a cop?” the man asked as soon as they were within speaking distance, eyebrow cocked in question.

“Do I look like a cop?” Yunho answered, elongating his swagger.

The man in-front of him smiled. “No, but you smell like one of those really bad cologne adds in those fashion magazines.”

With a sour look painted across his features Yunho fisted his hands in his shirt. Slightly lighter skin peaked out from under the fabric as he lifted the bottom hem up to sniff, un-conscious of how the action looked to the man standing beside him.

“Smells fine to me?”

His only reply was laughter as Donghae chuckled at the absurdity of the other man’s actions. Couldn’t be a cop he thought, no one would hire someone that loose in the head. But Donghae couldn’t deny that Yunho was smart, dedicatedly loyal and knew how to move, when he wasn’t falling over his own feet in muddled confusion that was. He would fill the position well enough.

“I have the next job for you. I take it last night’s little adventure went well?”

Yunho nodded hopping his exhaustion wasn’t overly apparent on his features. He had already slipped into the office prior to this meeting. The chief had told him to keep pushing forward after the lengthy debriefing, Yunho’s reply a continual repeat of ‘I’m working on it.’

“Good.”

Yunho watched as the man opposite him pulled a small white square from his pocket, the sheet of paper fluttering in the light breeze as it made its way into his waiting fingers. It appeared to be another paper run, something Yunho didn’t really want to handle in his tired state. The thought of running around the city spreading the coded information made his stomach larch and his eyes feel even heavier than they already were.
Unfolding the standard size sheet of paper Yunho tried not to look confused as the inner fold bore a single word.

U-KNOW.

His confusion must have been apparent on his face as Donghae began to laugh at him. The next line made his heart skip.

Behind you.

Out of nowhere two shadows inked their way along the grass at his back and as Yunho turned to identify what exactly was behind him a fist caught him in the stomach. Doubling over in shock Yunho tried to right himself quickly. He was able to miss the next swing within inches of his face, coming eye to eye with two rather large men he had never met in his life.

Hoping to catch one of them off guard Yunho pivoted and swung, left hook catching the second man in the jaw and he could feel the pop of a few lower teeth. He used his foot to kick at the other man, contact made when he was abruptly thrown to the ground. Donghae loomed over him just before two rather large hands grabbed his shirt to haul him back up to standing, the fight deemed over only seconds after it had begun.

With his arms pinned behind him by the largest of the three men all Yunho could do was struggle. Donghae’s fist hit him square in the jaw rendering Yunho still before a cloth was mashed into his face covering his nose and mouth. The more he struggled, the dizzier he felt until his limbs turned heavy and he began to fall.

Everything went black within the blink of his eyes.

………

Whispers, there were faint whispers swirling around Yunho’s head along with the pounding headache threatening to make him vomit. He could barely remember what happened except for the faint smell of chemicals that lingered in his nostrils pulling him to recall the cryptic note Donghae had passed him right before he had gotten his ass kicked.

In a vague attempt to get his bearings back Yunho could slowly discern that his arms were tied behind his back, his fingers beginning to go numb at the tips as the bristled cord dug into his wrists. He had been manoeuvred into a sitting position on a low chair, feet on the ground. Panic set in when Yunho realized he couldn’t see his surroundings, the dark blindfold fitting snugly against his eyes and tied at the back of his head.

The voices continued to mutter off to his side. Donghae was speaking to someone else and he could not make out the voice as anyone he recognized. It appeared as if they were arguing about something but he was too far away to make out the words and his head spinning made his concentration shoddy at best.

Without warning a hand fisted in his shirt for the second time wrenching him forwards and he stumbled into the solid body standing in-front of him. Quickly righting himself, an apology flew out of Yunho’s mouth, the short repentance met with an unsettling giggle beside his ear.

“What do you want from me? I’ve done everything I was asked to do,” Yunho’s voice sounded strained even to his own ears, nervous, and he silently doubted his role in this undercover operation.

He was appalled at how easily he was becoming unraveled in the extremeness of the situation. He was a cop dammit, he should be better than this. He tried to move his fingers in hopes of regaining some feeling and he could tell his palms were sweaty, the small flinch of headache brewing from his overly anxious state.

“I wouldn’t mind your soul.”

There was another giggle like it was all just a big joke except this time it was father away and Yunho took a deep, relieved breath of air. A chill ran down Yunho’s spine at the sadistic little noise the man made under his breath, vaguely alarmed that he enjoyed the peak at the end.

“There’s a special job I want to give you U-Know, the question is, are you cut out for it?”

There was that word again, the word he had read on the paper right before he was taken down. It sounded remarkably like his name, a play on words slid into another language. Could they be addressing him by a new name? His mind ran with the implications. This was his shot, his chance to get under the surface, his chance to find the answers he was looking for.

“Answer my question,” the congeniality in the tone didn’t make Yunho ready for the hard slap across his face and the sting it left behind.

Forgetting that he was still bound, Yunho tried to rub his hand along his sore jaw but found he was incapable of the action. He grimaced, trying to move quickly to answer the question and avoid another stinging slap.

“Yes,” Yunho replied succinctly. “I can do it.”

He could hear feet shuffle around him and then there were hands tugging on the knot at the back of his skull.

“Hi sexy,” the man he had been talking to giggled once more.

And that’s when he realized who he was staring at. He had been staring at the man for weeks, had stared into those eyes so many times before since he was handed this case.

Kim Junsu.
