I *tried* to post this yesterday and gave up after it ate it
I was using the mobile version to post this yesterday, and it was rather unsuccessful, and I decided I'd wait until I was at the computer to try again:
I'm an auntie now!
My little nephew was born yesterday, after his mommy was induced due to high blood pressure that wouldn't go down. He's two weeks early but looking good, at an even 7 pounds. I don't know his name yet, because my brother and his wife weren't quite prepared to have a final decision about it yesterday, expecting to have another two weeks before they had to make up their minds. Sillies.
I'm making something special for him.

That news pretty much trumps anything else I've been meaning to say on here lately, so I'll post in more detail later about my 2011 reading progress. To sum up: I've read 4 books so far, 3 of which are from Bujold's Vorkosigan saga, which I'm enjoying far more than I expected to, despite loving her Sharing Knife series (I really should have known better).
