cause everything is Rent....
saw Rent tonight...i wish i was brave enough 2 sing in front of people cause i'd kill 2 be in that show...i absolutely LOVED it...this whole post is gonna be about Rent and i'll start my story of the night now...
got 2 the pantages theatre around 5:30 or so 2 try and get the $20 rush tickets(4 the first and second row)..my mom went 2 the box office and found out if u can't get the rush tix, they have another line called the cancellation line and she stood there and was the 1st person in that line as i waited in the rush line..once the line started moving i knew i wouldn't get the $20 tix and went 2 stand w/ my mom...i'm standing 4 like 5 min and i hear my full name..i turned around and this girl i went 2 high school with was there w/ 2 of her friends..long story short, her and 1 of her friends got tix, but the 3rd person didn't cause they got the last 2 tickets..they ended up selling us their tix for $40 and planned on coming back tomorrow...mistake on their part
as i'm standing in the line(i wanted 2 wait 2 see if we could get better seats)..granted those were in the 1st/2nd row, they were in a corner and i knew it'd be hard 2 see the whole stage..anyway, as i'm standing there i notice this guy who looks A LOT like Adam Pascal but figured its hollywood and this guy planned on coming or something...this girl went up 2 him and i finally heard his voice and realized it was Adam Pascal and i'd been looking at him 4 like 5-10 min not sure of if it was him...the person i made friends with in line and i went over and got a pic w/ him..i of course used my phone and the pic came out all bright, but who cares i met Adam Pascal! dude is so effin nice and has a NY accent..just flat out awesome..poor guy signed so many autographs and took so many pics..but it was 4 promotion cause a photographer came and he was w/ a guy w/ a lot of paperwork..lol
the box office opened around 7:40 to get other tix..turns out we got 5th row center, isle seats..only problem was that tix were $70 a piece..we got them anyway and sold r seats 2 r new friends in line 4 the same price my friend sold them 2 me
we get inside and turns out i made a great choice by waiting in line cause the seats she had were exactly like i thought and my seat was great...show starts and i didn't get into it until they sang "Rent"..then i was completely and totally enthralled..my mother was annoying the living hell out of me though because she kept talking and asking questions..here is what i thought of all the cast:
Roger- started off shakey and wasn't the best soft singer, but when he SANG he was great
Mark- he was good..thats about it
Mimi- they did not cast a great mimi..this girl could not transition between her 2 singing voices(i want 2 say throat and head, but i have a feeling i'm wrong...) anyway, she was a great dancer, but her voice was weak
Collins- holy fucking shit this guy was AMAZING..he sounded exactly like Jesse L. Martin at some points..almost better in parts..just wow...his tone was phenomenal and he sang w/ emotion and just really wow
Angel- this guy kicked ass...his "today 4 u, tomorrow 4 me" rendition was awesome
Maureen- i was worried they wouldn't find someone who can hit notes like Idina Menzel, but i was proven wrong...the girl they had killed it
Joanne- the girl they cast had such a great voice..i think the best of all the females and thats all i have 2 say about her
then the guy who played Benny was pretty good and the other cast brought it all together 2 make a great show
intermission comes and low and behold, Adam Pascal is 2 rows behind me again getting bombarded w/ people..i'm sure he expected it though
i was expecting 2 cry at least once in this show, and when the part when Collins sings his song 2 Angel i was all into it and my mom somehow lit up a flashlight key chain she had and totally brought me out of the moment...i had tears in my eyes at the very end when Angel came back on stage
i just LOVED it and want 2 go again SOOOOOOOOOO bad...i MIGHT go friday w/ some friends and get there early enough 2 get the $20 seats..i'll know tomorrow
i ended up spending $45 on souviniers(sp)..i got a shirt and a hat..yep, it was over priced but who cares..i'm allowed 2 splurge on stupid things every so often
Adam Pascal is performing in Brentwood next weekend and i really want 2 go considering the guy's voice is incredible..i almost bought his CD once, but had no money and i didn't..lol
okay so i think this is the longest post i've ever done and i'm sure i wanted 2 say more and now can't think..so 4 now its done
