My Christmas Wish List.

Nov 30, 2008 22:05

So this is going here and on facebook. Those who have me on both - Vago, Jenn, Pippa, Emily, some others - please forgive this!!

The Christmas Wishlist Meme:

Step 1:

Make a post (public, friend-locked, filtered... whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. Then, post should contain your list of 10 unlimited holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact information in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step 2:

Surf around your friend-list (or friends' f-list, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use ー or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free ー do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf ー to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not ー it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just... wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

1. I wish my mum would be well for Christmas. She's had so much to deal with lately health-wise.

2. I would love to get snail mail. I really like getting mail. There's not much better, except for hugs. But when you live in Scotland, hugs are hard to come by.

3. More love in the world. Please, please tell people that you love them. That's one of my wishes. You never know how long we have with them. Something else we remember at Christmas time.

4. A Remus Lupins "Fight evil read books" tshirt. I didn't get one at Wrockstock and I really, really want one. That would mean I had three TRL ones, and then people would REALLY call me an Alex fangirl, but I don't care. The "Make Love Not Horcruxes" one is good because ALL Potter fans understand it, not just wizard rock ones, but the message of "Fight evil, read books" is universal, and I want to spread it around. Even if it's secondhand. Size-wise I'm a bit of a pain. Right now I'm wearing a "Remus Lupins '08 - Making Trouble in Harmony" shirt and it's a size S, but I'm a ladies L in the HPA heart logo shirts. THANK YOU JENN!!! <3

5. New music. Mix CDs (whether in CD format or online emailed to me) are total love. I love music and it helps pass the time on my daily commute to classes.

6. Ghirardelli chocolate. My mum's friend went to America and came back with some and I got to try a square of dark chocolate with raspberry filling, and it is probably the best chocolate I have ever tasted. I am a chocoholic. That would make me very, very happy. THANK YOU SO MUCH EMILY! <3

7. A new template for my personal website, http://www.digitalkiss.org/laur. Though I'm hoping to change the address a little, to a subdomain, sometime soon if I ever have time. I can't find any I like, and I suck at trying to make them. I found one :)

8. High School Musical 3 or Harry Potter memorabilia. Chocolate frog cards, postcards, any of the HP sweets you can buy which simply aren't available here now - we used to have Every-Flavour Beans and Chocolate Frogs but not any more :-( and sherbet lemons! Awesome, AWESOME friends.

9. I wish my dad could find a new job.

10. To be able to stop worrying so much about everything. Right now so much has gone wrong and KEPT going wrong that I just want to be able to sit down and go ONE DAY without feeling like I'm just waiting for the next catastrophe to hit.
