AHHHHH!!!
I WON 1ST PLACE IN THE NATS COMPETITION IN MY DIVISION!!!
It's such an awesome feeling, because last year I didn't even place and this year I got first!!
A woman walked up to me after and asked me if I had sang "A Chloris" last year for the competition and I had, so I said yes and she totally remembered me (she was one of the judges) and said she couldn't believe what a year of work could do to a voice. It was such a nice compliment.
For those of you that don't know what NATS is it stands for National Association of Teaching Singers and the competition I was in was open to all colleges in NH and you had to prepare 10 minutes of music by following guidelines and then you were critiqued and judged and then they awarded a 1st, 2nd, 3rd and honorable mention in each division, which were split up by your age....so i was in the youngest cause it was ages 17-19. After the 1st audition they pick the top 4 from each division, already knowing who won (but they don't tell you) and you preform 1 of your pieces in front of everybody, including the other students and all of the judges. I got 1st prize which was $75, but techincally I only made $25 cause it cost $50 to enter haha.
But.....AHHHH! IT'S SO COOL!! :)
