The public entry of what happened today.
I'm not going to go too into it for this public entry, but jeez, I'm wondering whether to feel like an idiot or not.
For those of you who didn't know, I went to the lovely Seth Rudetsky's (wow, did I butcher his name) Broadway Chatterbox tonight.
Okay, the man was funny as HELL. So funny. I love funny gay men.
Linda Mugleston was also there, she went first, because I think that she's going on for Donna Murphy tonight. She sang "100 Easy Ways", wow, did she blow everyone's mind. Number one, I love that song, and Number two, the woman sounds exactly like Donna Murphy- even better than the cast recording. I love her voice, and I actually loved her version of the Witch. I also loved her Vanessa Williams story- the fu dog! Loved her! She left halfway during the show because Barrett was up and I think that she needed to get to the Al Hirschfield (That's where WONDERFUL TOWN is, right?).
And then Barrett went up- poor Barrett! Seth gave it to him for being in MAMMA MIA, I thought that it was horrifically funny. I wasn't sure whether to laugh or not, because Barrett is up there trying to defend the show, and Seth is totally giving it to him. I don't know if anyone noticed it, but I felt a somewhat...resented tone in his voice? Maybe it was just me. I don't know.
He sang "I Wish I Could Go Back To College" (as a solo), with PRINCETON! I got to be about 4 feet away from the puppet- it was awesome! If it was Rod, I wouldn't have been able to restrain myself. I would have grabbed Rod and ran away.
What else?? I loved hearing the little stories that they told.
And the Avenue Q people signed the contracts again, so they've got another run.
Lots more, gossip and all, but I can't write it here.
Anyway, Kathy's totally awesome. I hope that they didn't feel too uncomfortable- these people were either parents of adults, grandparents, etc. etc., in other words, way older than me. (but believe me, very active!) I felt kind of out of place, but I think that I had a blast with them.
