A couple positives and negatives from the last week and a bit.
+ School is done done done! Like every year, though, I'm still in that headspace where my brain keeps shouting at me to OMG STOP WASTING TIME GO STUDY YOU HAVE THINGS TO DOOOOO even though I don't, and I've been randomly tensing up the whole weekend in panic, lol. I got marks back today from two of the three courses I took this term and the results are very good, so I am SO HAPPY AND RELIEVED OMG :DDD
- Despite the good marks in my other classes, I definitely failed my Physics course :| I'm upset, but not overly so, because having taken this course I now definitively know that me and Physics just do not mesh, not even when considerably watered down. I just...can't do it. So there really isn't much to be done about that, but at least I learned something! *le sigh*
+/- I'm currently back at home with my family for the foreseeable future. On the one hand I'm really happy about that, because I never get to see them as much as I want to during the school year, and living at home for a while will allow me to save up some money. On the other, as much as I love my family, I know from past experience that I can really only stand living at home for about two months at a time before I start feeling stifled and then get bitter and crazy. So we'll see how that goes.
- Speaking of living situations...anyone who follows me on Twitter will have heard this already, but about a week ago one of my roommates was taken out of our suite in handcuffs by the Police, for reasons they would not disclose to me and my other roommates. It was an incredibly surreal experience. I was just sitting in the kitchen eating breakfast with my roommate S, and we hear a knock at the front door followed by a shout of, "POLICE!". Then without waiting for us to answer three policemen just opened the door and walked right in, and asked for my other roommate M. We pointed them upstairs, so they went up, and we could hear them talking to M but couldn't tell what they were saying. Less than five minutes later they lead her downstairs again, handcuffed and crying, and take her out to their squad car. One of the policemen questioned me and S about how well we knew M, if we'd noticed anything strange lately, etc etc and then mentioned something about how they were taking her to the hospital...? I can't really remember, I was kind of in shock. As of Saturday M still hasn't come back, so I'm not sure what the hell is going on, but now that I've moved out I guess I'll never know.
+ Found out via my brother the other day that A. J. Buckley, who plays Ghostfacer Ed on Supernatural went to the same high school as me! SO CRAZY! He's about ten years older than me so we never went to school together, but I'm still tickled by the fact that I walked the same halls as a mo'fucking GHOSTFACER LOLLL \o/ I have so many random, stupid connections to this show, it's kind of hilarious. (Did I ever mention how Jensen almost rented my Aunt's penthouse suite from her a couple years ago? What a mindfuck, seriously).
- As per my last post, I'm still indulging in my weirdo resurgence of love for CSI, and have been feverishly watching random episodes to tide me over until the new episodes every Thursday. It's only slightly pathetic, I swear. I think I'm going to borrow all the seasons on DVD from my Aunt B (who looooooves Grissom, ahahahaha omg) so I can watch all of them with my friend L, which ought to be pretty hilarious. I'm so bitter that the fandom for this show (which was never really all that big to begin with) is practically dead now, and that I've already managed to read all the good Nick/Greg fic that exists. It's gotten so bad that I've begun trawling old archives for a looooooot of fic that ranges from subpar to just embarrassingly OOC and just generally AWFUL in order to get my fix like a fucking junkie. WHAT IS MY LIFE. Ugh, step away from the badfic, self. That way likes MADNESS.
+ I have "discovered" two blogs lately that pretty much make me so happy I could die. One is
Tiger Beatdown and the other is
Hyperbole and A Half. The first is now my go-to feminist blog, because not only is it thought provoking and scathingly on-point, it is also HILARIOUS. The other is just plain hysterical. I'm pretty sure I've cried with laughter about a scrillion times while reading that blog. Get thee hence!
I would like to conclude here with A QUESTION FOR THE MASSES:
Are any of you using the new web browser Google Chrome? If so, what do you think? I just downloaded it a couple days ago myself because Safari has started being a bitch and I hate Firefox, and I'm actually really liking it so far. The only thing that bugs me is that even a single tiny .gif pretty much stops it in its tracks, which is...problematic considering, you know, THE INTERNET IN GENERAL BEING AS IT IS. Has anyone else noticed this at all?
Give me your thoughts and/or solutions!
