I think you do well with Valant too, if he becomes a little less gung ho by the end of a log, it's mostly because the events of the log have beaten him into submission. (i.e. being trapped under My Little Aztec Tomb, having an ulcer flare-up) I would be amused with bonus schadenfreude to see a Valant and Angel log from you, too. I do feel like maybe you do push the alliteration a liiittle too far for my tastes, but I haven't played AJ in ages, so I'm not sure if that's just me finding alliteration groan-worthy. I'd love to see Valant try to escape from prison, too. I think you should push harder to try to find a place to put those tricks or a way to set them up.
As far as Daryan goes, I agree, you're doing a great job. I can see the temper and craftiness that allowed him to do what he did in 4-3. What I would like to see more of from him is a capacity to aspire upwardly, though this depends on how you read the fact that he was essentially setting the Chief Justice up for blackmail. Maybe he starts to like the prestige/respect he gets from telling people he's dating Franziska von Karma/is friends with Klavier Gavin, once he gets into police academy. You've showed us he's intelligent/opportunistic and therefore capable of making up a plot like 4-3. You've showed us that he's got a bad temper, enough to brashly kill someone and then have to figure out a way to cover it up. I'd like to see a hint of why he decided to go through with it.
(Again, my 4-3 facts might be faulty, and I do realize it's not fair to expect you to explain away the weaknesses in that case, but it was just something that struck me when I was thinking about your Daryan.)

With Valant, I agree that my first post as him was basically summed up as "Holy alliteration!" but I think I did scale it down significantly after that. And yeah, I need to think of how exactly Valant is going to pull off those illusions because I'm not up-and-up on my secrets of magic. Oh and I think I enjoy playing Valant and making him suffer because it's sort of needed to show that he had a rough 7 years, but I do like that he keeps getting back up after God gives him an ass-kicking.
It's okay, I know that Capcom hates 4-3 and will never ever explain everything that is unexplained or messed up because they are jerks like that. Like I often babble about, his motivation is either money, blackmail or promotion or even all three and yeah, I set up a situation where he's always in need of cash and willing to do whatever it takes to get what he wants, but I should boost up his ambitions for status/respect/able to fire Gumshoe a bit. Even if he does have less than 6 years to fully develop his criminal mind.
I also need to start developing his supposed "gift" that Klavier said, where he can sense any weakness in people and take advantage of it.
