last semester i made a concerted effort to look into different graduate schools with excellent master's programs in education. as odd as it seems to me, the truth is that i will graduate in december (yikes!) and i have to start looking now. i need to start preparing for the GRE and looking into financial aid because the schools i've focused on are all in california. california has beautiful, sunny weather and it has a lot of brown people, which is quite the opposite of what i would find in new england. as of now i've narrowed it down to uc-berkeley, stanford, and uc davis. however, i'm still unsure about whether or not i want to focus on bilingual education, education and social change, or language, literacy and culture. in hopes of making a final choice, i'm applying to a summer research program for undergraduates interested in education. it's a pretty sweet deal - they'll pay for lodging, transportation, and a stipend of up to $4,000 for two months of work. they will make their choices in april and notify applicants around the same time, so we'll see how that goes.
