The waves wash away more particles of sand as she stares out across the sea. The cool water laps at her ankles, the sand tickling the soles of her feet as it slides from under her. It’s peaceful, quiet and it would be perfect, if she weren’t trapped here on the island.
Thinking back, she remembers the beach with her Mom, before her parents divorced and Diane married Wayne. Back when her parents were still together, Tom was her best friend and she was happy. Oh to be happy again.
If only she really could sink off the island.
