The first foray happened to be breakfast the other day. I attempted to make a ham and cheese omelet. It turned into a scrambled omelet. But it was yummy. Next time I'll use a bigger skillet and that pam stuff I've heard so much about. :)
The second foray (today's dinner) was chicken and rice. Mom and I realized halfway through preparations that we bought the wrong rice and the wrong diced tomatoes, but we still used both. Next time we'll get the right stuff. We substituted the bone-chicken with boneless chicken, but otherwise tried to keep the rest of the ingredients as close as possible. I told Mom I'd do most of the work, but it turned into her doing a lot of the work because I was entertaining the children (kitty 2 decided to "help" and the puppy decided it was play time). I did help some though, and did the dishes. Next time I'll start preparations earlier, too, because it took a bit longer than I expected.
The food was delicious, though. The diced tomatoes we bought for some reason had green chili in it, which made it spicy, but other than that, it was really good. Now we have leftovers for the next few days.
