And I return with another tutorial! This one is for pics that have the annoying bluish tone to it when you want skin colour! (if the icon is a person granted...) So here is a handy colouring to give more life to your pics of people!
Go from:
to:
Made in PS7. Not likely translatable (uses selective colouring and curves)
Sharpen or blur the pic to heart's content before proceeding with the tutorial.
Duplicate the base once. Set it to soft light 100%
If your pic is dark, don't be afraid to add a screen layer to whatever opacity suits the picture. But for my base, a soft light layer did fine.
These may need to be adjusted depending on your pic.
New Layer > Adjustment layer > selective colouring:
REDS:
Cyan: -41%
Yellow: +49%
YELLOWS:
Cyan: -67%
Yellow: +62%
WHITES:
Cyan: -42%
Yellow: +49%
NEUTRALS:
Cyan: -8%
Yellow: +8%
New Layer > Adjustment layer > Colour balance
Midtones:
-10, 0, +8
Shadows:
-7, 0, +7
Highlights:
+14, 0, -13
New Layer > Adjustment layer > curves
RGB:
Point one:
Input: 164
Output: 217
Point two:
Input: 11
Output: 11
BLUE:
Point one:
Input: 228
Output: 240
Point two:
Input: 99
Output: 85
And that's all there is to it! Add any little finishing touches, textures, text, brushes, whatever you wish. Depending the picture, you may have to change the settings to accomodate. Especially if your pic has more orange/skin tone colour to it so your icon doesn't come out looking like an oompa loompa!
I would love to see what others can come up with!
