The Planets

Symphony played Mars and Jupiter. I didn't realize that I'd actually heard both of these before, but seeing as they're extremely famous...

They were okay to sight-read except for some parts where a ton of sixteenth notes popped out and ran by in two seconds. Rrgh. I bet that's what we're going to audition on in two weeks, so I should probably practice. But I know I won't. xD.

We had sectionals afterwards, half of which was spent playing in the hallway (because the building neglected to give us a room to practice) and half spent doing nothing. I think that Asian-bonding mechanism was at work again, because Lily and I separated ourselves from the other five without really realizing it. I feel kind of bad for her because she's the only representitive of her city, so she really only knows the viola section and a couple violinists. We spent the time lamenting about life and messing with the drinking fountain...yeah, we probably looked stupid, but there was nothing else to do. That, sadly enough, must've been the highlight of my long weekend. The school needs to *finally* burn down and give us a decently long vacation.

For the school's orchestra we're playing the Nutcracker Suite, abridged version. It's still kind of hard though. I like listening to it more than I like playing it because it has really strange rests and rhythms sometimes. Aaand I was supposed to practice, but I didn't. Crap for me tomorrow.

Curse all teachers who like piling on work before TG. D:
