Eight
Low murmuring could be heard as the oldest man in the house watched television placed in a low volume with a blank stare obviously not focusing on the show but on the two people sitting on the dining room, discussing something.
It has been exactly a week since Jaejoong got hospitalized and Chagmin couldn’t help but to still feel worried at the condition of his younger brother. Words spoken by the physician - Dr. Cho, were still fresh in his mind.

He stood up from the row of red colored chairs placed beside the emergency room where Jaejoong is currently being rendered care at as he saw the young physician slowly approaching him.
“what’s wrong with him? is he alright? The baby?”. He asked, rushed as he held the doctors gloved-free hand with his own shaky hands.
The doctor looked pass him. “You are YooChun am I right?”. He asked and was answered with a nod by the also anxious looking young man. Dr. Cho smiled, trying to lighten the mood between the two men in front of him. “Jaejoong is looking for you, you can see him now”. And in a blink, the student was already entering the emergency room.
The young physician didn’t miss the pain flashed onto his patient’s brother’s pair of dark-brown orbs as he slowly lead him back to the row of chairs just beside them.
Changmin stared at the doctor, getting impatient as he waited to know his brother’s condition.
Dr. Cho stared back at the man looking at him fiercely for a few seconds and looked away before clearing his throat.
“Jaejoong is fine as well as the baby inside him. The premature contraction was indeed common now that he’s nearing his fifth month but it doesn’t mean that it should happen often”. He stopped as he turned to look at the man; sincerely listening to what he was saying, wearing a blank face.
“Mr. Shim, you do know that male pregnancies are not common. Compared to female pregnancy, male pregnancies are considered a complication”. He stopped, watching the change of expression of the man and he heaved a sigh when he saw nothing.
“unlike women who have uterus where fetus starts to form, male pregnancy occurred on the abdominal cavity which is commonly known as ectopic pregnancy to women. On that interstitial space, a pseudo-placenta were the fetus grow is formed by the excess female hormones that is inside the male that is pregnant. We supply it with hormone supplements that Jaejoong took until last month so the fetus would have a strong hold inside him -“. He stops yet again when Changmin shifted beside him; body slumping onto the chair that is too small for his height.
“why are saying this things to me?”. he asked for the first time since the doctor started talking; his voice shaky and laced with anxiety.
“I want you to be aware that even though the baby’s hold inside Jaejoong is strong, he still needs enough nutrition and rest. For the past weeks, he’s been losing weight and obviously lacks sleep. He’s paler than usual, he’s hypotensive and I dou -“
“you do know that he’s experiencing problems right now that’s wh -“.
“and you’re his brother, can’t you be there for him?”. the doctor finally snapped cutting what Changmin was saying, the same way he did to him. He knew what happened, he forced Jaejoong to tell him, and he was indeed disappointed to the man who he thought would support his patient throughout this hardship that he’s experiencing.
Dr. Cho massaged his temples using his forefingers as he too slouched at the chair his sitting at. “Your brother needs all the support he could get, Changmin. In two months time he’s going to give birth to his child prematurely. It’s a dangerous process if he’s body is weak”. He tiredly said.
Changmin’s eyes widened in surprise. In two months? “if he is due in two months it means the baby would be just seven months?”. He asked lowly, feeling embarrassed as the doctor glared at him.
“as I have told you earlier, the baby is growing inside his abdominal cavity meaning it is a pregnancy that wasn’t supposed to be continued at all but since Jaejoong insisted the only way I could keep his health to not worsen is to remove the baby as soon as possible, that way, complications will be lessen”. He answered tiredly, his lack of rest slightly eating him up after an 18 hours shift.
“how about the baby? Could I -“.
“aish! It is safer to give birth to a baby at 7 months for his lungs haven’t started forming yet than on the 8th month when the lungs are already forming. Yes, the baby would be in critical care for a few weeks to be treated with medicines to help in its lungs be formed but after that, everything would be fine”. He answered as he stood up and slowly walked away from the man that’s now staring at him.
“Yah! Kyuhyun!”. Changmin called. he was actually relieved at the information he just heard but mostly he was confident that his brother is safe with the care of the young physician.
Kyuhyun halted on his steps and turned around to look at the tall man who shouted his name. “who told you that you can call me in a first name basis? You still broke my heart, Shim”. And he finally walked away.

He woke up from his trance when he heard Yoochun yelp when Jaejoong hit his forehead. A smile appeared on his lips as he noticed how his brother looked more beautiful compared to the pass weeks. It seems that Kyuhyun did told him that he should take care of himself for the sake of the baby and so he did that Changmin was very thankful of.
The beautiful blonde gained a few weight, skin not paler than before and his cheeks had its natural pinkish glow on them. All in all, Changmin could say that everything is back to normal with his brother if only he doesn’t hear him sob every night; yes it was lessen, but Jaejoong is still suffering and it hurts the older man more because his brother is hiding it to them.
It touched him deeply when he secretly heard what Jaejoong said to the photo he was holding at last night when he thought that everyone was already asleep.
The beautiful man lovingly stares at the photo of him and Yunho in his hand, memorizing the small, handsome face of the man he loves as he bit his lip, fighting the sobs wanting to escape his pouty lips as his tears silently streamed down his cheeks. He took a deep breath to calm his shallow breathing then longingly said,
“you’re making me miss you so much Yun-ah. P-Please remember me now”.
