It was a pleasant day when my brother and I went up to Evanston, where we met up with our cousin from our father's side, Ate Elaine, and her family. She is the daughter of our Tita who moved here a while back. Ate Elaine grew up here and doesn't speak Filipino. She married another Filipino American, and they have two kids, our very cute niece and nephew, Sophie and Sammy.
For today, we went to the beach. The sand was yellow, and felt, well, fake. The water was icy cold, despite it being the peak of summer. So I just went sunbathing while Sammy and Sophie played in the water.
We droped by the nearby Baha'i Temple, the only Baha'i Temple in North America. It had such admirable architecture. One can't help but feel at peace inside it. I remembered my close friend, Pet, who studied and followed Baha'i.
Then, we had ice cream with the kids in a nearby ice cream parlor. I'm glad I was able to hang out with my family here in Chicago.
