I had an extremeely strange dream last night.
It started with what seemed like a mad scientist creating a virus that kills most of humanity. Somehow it broke through all the quarantines, and within a day there were (white?) lions and tigers attacking each other in the street. However, the damage to people doesn't seem like a virus at all, as once 'infected' there's a bright flash of light, followed by a strangely charred corpse. It doesn't follow any patterns, and is almost immediately worldwide. The scene cuts to a secret underground classroom for children, run by a teacher who seems to often avoid listening to a particular student - until it is (very strangely... the student tugs on the teacher's skirt and her disguise comes off) revealed that the teacher is actually a superintelligent anteater. A blue anteater. Anyway, we get to see the access elevator for this classroom, at which point the principal is testing three pokemon in cages for a... something. I get to interview the guy who captured the pokemon, and convince him and the principal that this is a stupid part of the dream. At this point, most of humanity is dead, and still nobody has any idea what caused it, thinking it was a virus of some sort still.
Cut to an extremely green field, where the last 20-25 humans are testing out a spaceship, created by the principal, the mad scientist (though no one knows it) and the anteater. The ship is made out of metal and weird crystally chunks of wood, and has a shield that lets it phase through objects, which is the part they're testing today. Unseen by anyone, the wood chunks seem to perpetually fall off the ship, only to be reconstituted by an unseen force (that is unrelated and not part of the ship's engines). Almost immediately after phasing entirely through a large boulder, a weird, see-through-jelly-like 'earth spirit' pops out, shortly followed by about 20 more. They explain that the 'virus' is actually caused by the ship's drive engine not being shielded properly, and that it set off a chain reaction of some sort, soaking up souls or people or some such whenever it is usede or _about to be_ used. Some weird time travel stuff in there. At this point, I totally wanted to ask the spirits about the woodchunks and how they were coming back together, and if there was any way to reset all the people that had died and charred. But one of my cats woke up me (it was also 2pm) and I never got the chance.
Very, very strange. I'm not sure it was supposed to fit together quite like that, but that's the most sense of it that I can make, as one of the things I 'knew' in the dream was that all these pieces were from the same world/timeline.
