seeing you on the rateyourdog community reminded me I needed to reply to this post!!!

oh, I really do think Indy is beautiful (although I normally do think most 'silly looking' dogs are, she doesn't seem silly looking to me at all though). And every pit bull I've ever met is extremely friendly! I think they have a very bad wrap and it makes me very sad. Pits arent to blame for irresponsible owners.

And do you think Mushka has any lab in her at all? I still consider Dakota's primary breed to be lab, but there's really no telling. I also thought whippt for a while but after posting on the Whippit community here on lj and getting a lot of "I don't see it" responses, I realized that probably wasn't it.

And black tongues are common in shar pei (spell?) and chows. We thought she was sp at first just because she had a lot of wrinkles, but now we are leaning more towards chow than anything. It might also explain her small size as chows usually aren't as big as labs.

And the ears are my favorite. From now on all I'm going to want are dogs with ears like M and D. I love them! :)

Ears Ears Ears! I can’t tell you how happy I was to see that Mushka’s ears started to go back when she was about 2 months old. No offence to floppy eared dogs, but I love up-ears, and pulley-back ears! I teased her when she was a pup, and told her I was going to use some scotch tape to pull her ears back! (of course I did not do it).
I have found that dealing with pure breed dog owners, they can never ‘see’ much in a mixed breed, that’s sad. Chows Chows are so fluffy; it looks like the only think Dakota got from her Chow bloodline is the black spots on her tong! I don’t know how big they get under all that fur.
Lab is usually the first thing that comes to peoples mind because of yellow color, and there are quite a number of them out there. Look at her bone structure, body type, is she skinny and slender? Or a chunky monkey? She may be part lab, but that’s the great mystery of mixed dogs, trying to imagine what they came from.
Someone told me that Mushka was pit once as well…whatever! With Indy I can see both lab and pit in her, big head little eyes, and those bat wing ears!!! She is smaller than Mu, length and height, but weighs 52+ lbs. She has the pit fullness in her chest and legs, still a skinny waist, but very strong and fit. The pit is what keeps her size down. I use to say I had the Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie of dogs, but now Nicole has lost all her weight, and it does not work.

I loved dakota's ears when she was a pup because she had one flipped and one not. it was adorable. so I was sad when the other started leaning back! but they are still adorable!

from what I've read, chows are generally smaller than labs fullgrown. which is why I think dakota may be mixed with one.. I am also pretty sure she has some lab in her... when I was growing up my family had a lab that dakota reminds me of very much. even my boyfriend saw a picture of the lab, molly, and asked if it was dakota.

Now I just refer to her as my miniture lab with funky ears ;)

And yeah, people who call dakota a pit mix are just crazy. these ears can come from anywhere. even a dog with folded ears and a dog with ears that stick up could create a dog with ears like hers!

& Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie. ha! that's awesome.

And I've added all three to my friends-list.
and feel free to add back. :)
