Lavi stood in front of a mirror staring at himself and the scars gained in battle since joining the Order, fingers tracing down the marks made by Allen's sword. He hadn't meant it, the younger Exorcist, not that Lavi even blamed him for it. Even he didn't know of the Noah's presence until then, so in a way he was thankful - although the pain caused by the marks kept him awake all night long. He never spoke of it to anyone, not even Gramps knew about it, just the marks and the reason why they were there. Of course he suspected the old man knew - somehow he always knew - and in turn he had informed those in charge.

A knock on the door broke him from his reverie, "Hurry up in there, rabbit!" Tense shoulders relaxed and he grinned a little, happy to hear his friend's gruff voice again. Lavi had been devastated in the Ark by the thought of not being chased around by the swordsman anymore when all of the other levels fell away from the tower. So when Allen had brought them all back Lavi promised himself that he would harass Kanda as often as he could until that day he had to leave the place that had become home. Not that he was sure now he would be able to leave... Another knock, another yell, and a wider grin. Maybe if he kept quiet the other would burst in looking for him.

Sure enough the door burst open not even a few moments later, slamming against the wall, "Damn it, Lavi! Answer me!" Lavi had moved to the other side of the doorway and tackled him from behind, draping with a well-worn grin.

"You don't have to yell, Yu~" Lavi wound his arms around the swordsman, chin settled on a shoulder, "I'm right here~" Kanda stiffened like he had since the first day they had met but now it wasn't as much, more like a momentary shock before relaxing backward. It was never like this in public, just the two of them, "What brings you here?"

"Get off of me first, stupid rabbit." He shoved at the redhead half-heartedly, a flush on his face. "Second, you're wanted in Komui's office, so get dressed." He began to mutter about not being a messenger as Lavi stayed in his draping position, eye turned up toward him.

"You know I don't think of you like that, Yu." Kanda grunted, trying to shrug the redhead off again, still unsuccessfully. Lavi's arms tightened around him, getting another shove, and then he separated from him to go pull on his shirt. "You're my best friend."

Kanda grunted softly, watching Lavi move around with his eyes on the scars. Lavi pretended not to notice so that his friend could continue to worry in his silent way without embarrassment of being caught. "You got any idea why he wants to see me or was that not included?" His words were a little muffled as he pulled on the shirt, tugging it into place.

"Can't say that I stuck around after being ordered to be a gopher," he scoffed and moved back toward the door as Lavi pulled on his headband, "I can say there are a few strange faces in Crow uniforms in there."

"You mean the ones that caught Allen earlier in the hall?" Lavi looked at him in surprise, jacket in hand, Kanda just nodded and lead the redhead down the hall instead. "Wondered why they were here, dunno why I'm needed though."

"Who knows," he was curious though, it was hidden away in his tone, "Don't forget you still have a match with me later. I'm tired of facing the beansprout."

Lavi laughed, "Alright, alright. It was after dinner, right? I'll be there." Kanda nodded and moved off down a separate hallway, leaving Lavi alone to face the double doors leading to Komui's expansive office always cluttered to the brim with paperwork. After making sure his uniform was in place he knocked on the door, entering after the command to "come in". There wasn't anything that he could pick up from the Supervisor's tone that would give away what the topic was. It was distant, polite, and a little commanding, something that Komui didn't want to do perhaps but something that he had to do regardless. Komui sat at his desk like normal with a nervous looking Reever slightly behind him and three visitors that he hadn't seen before.

One of them was a beautiful woman, older than he liked but he could tell this wasn't a situation where his usual flirtation was going to be acceptable. The other two were standing behind her sofa wearing the same Crow uniforms that the trio from earlier had been wearing, one of them was a tall fellow with blue hair and the other a lovely looking blonde. Not exactly his type - not that he'd go after a Crow to begin with - but that was nothing they needed to know. Still, Lavi walked toward the cluttered desk and nodded, "You sent for me?"

Komui looked up from his paperwork almost as if he were distracted, "Yes, Lavi. This is Chief Epstain of the North American Branch," the older woman nodded, "and Third Exorcists Madarao and Tevak." Third Exorcists? Not Crow then. But what were Third Exorcists? "--vak is going to be your shadow like Inspector Link is shadowing Allen."

Wait. What? Lavi jerked and looked at the young woman, her stoic face reminding him so much of the way Kanda's had been at first and now reminded him of the Inspector. He quickly looked back at Komui, "I don't need a babysitter, Supervisor. Gramps keeps a pretty clo--"

"I know that he does, Lavi," Komui sighed heavily, "And I'm fine with just having Bookman watch over you. Central, however, is not so comfortable with the idea. Tevak will be your shadow until we can determine if the Noah inside of you is close to awakening due to..." He glanced at the trio then back at Lavi, "...events in the Ark. Or even which one it is unless they've started making their presence known to you somehow...?"

Lavi shook his head, "I can't have a shadow following me, she's not a Bookman." The secrets that he and the old man sometimes shared couldn't be heard by anyone. But even with his protest the Third Exorcist was moving to his side after a nod from Chief Epstain.

"Bookman has given his consent and Tevak is supposed to move out of the room should the two of you need the privacy. She'll be standing outside the door. There is no choice in this matter, Lavi." Lavi's eye narrowed and he glanced at the young woman before turning on his heel to walk out of the office, teeth gritting as he heard her footsteps behind his own. How the hell was he going to explain this to Kanda?
