Why can't we be making love nice and easy (ship meme ahoy)

I was so far ahead of the curve on this meme that I've ended up falling behind. *g*

I offered to talk about ships in this post, and these are the last ones people asked for.

No one knows that Sirius loves flying because he's never been afraid to fall but that he's actually not very good at Quidditch because he's never been a team player.

Agreed! But as I love flying (paragliding) myself, I didn't quite word it like this in my head...

For me, playing Quidditch wouldn't be a good way to enjoy a flight. Fling is a solitary pleasure! And, well, liking to fly because one's never been afraid of falling doesn't feel like a sufficient reason to me. I don't like chocolate because I'm not afraid to get fat! Flying, it's feeling invisible things such as ascending currents and the air wave made by a hill and the difference between the air close to the ground which smells of vegetation and heat and the air close to the clouds which smells of dampness and iodine. It's looking down and feeling like you could go everywhere. It's meeting birds. When you don't use an engine, it's knowing that you went up there just with an artificial wind and choosing the good currents. Just look there...
I can totally imagine that Sirius enjoys this! Because when you're up there there's nothing like society or family or even friends. Just you and the sky. So, for him, Quidditch would only feel like something that forbids him from climbing up to the clouds or trying to reach a point in the sky or following a bird...

The other day, I was imagining that you could ride a flying motorbike like you pilot a paraglider. That over the most magical areas, there are magical currents in the air that make the flyings charm go better, to the point where you can cut off the engine and just spiral up. *dreams*

And this surrealistic comment was brought to you by too much work and not enough flying

Well, it's more a poetic way of saying Sirius is adventurous and fearless and freedom-loving, and that's why flying appeals to him, rather than a literal statement of causal relationships.
