Jayne with Destruction. Book with Destiny. I'd be more tempted to put Zoe with Death, but I'm not a huge Simon fan, so... Wash with Dream? Or Mal? They're both romantics.
Zoe and Death would be one hell of a conversation.
Well, yes. Or Zoe and Destruction. Possibly more enlightening than Jayne. *G*
Or Kaylee, really. Watch them try to out-perk each other. She's been close enough to death that that scene would be easy to wrangle
Hee! That'd be so cute, and could slot right into canon.
Though of course, Simon and Death could be heartbreaking.
Mal and Dream would be great, but I'd really like to see him face down Despair.
Well, Mal and Despair was my gut reaction, but I was hesitant about it - maybe thinking it was too obvious? But you're right. It'd be gutwrenching, too, if done right.
Which leaves Wash and Dream (because he wouldn't *get* Wash, but Wash is so totally his).
You don't really need to know much, except that Delirium is the anthropomorphization (sp?) of insanity, and is, as such, timeless, or in the vernacular of Sandman, one of the Endless. But I'm glad it works without that knowledge. *g*
The words are meaningless, because it is always right now for River, every moment that’s ever happened to her is happening right now but she can’t explain. Kaylee wouldn’t understand.

I was definitely going for a sense of dislocation, both in time and space.

I don't know the Sandman universe at all, and this was still great.

I do think they're available at most libraries, so you can save your money for converting the world to SportsNight love or something. *g*

This part was my favorite:

And that's the part that comes from the caption on the Del icon, which is what pearl_o requested of me. *G*
