when we float out into the ether, into the everlasting arms

At dinner last night (the chicken tenders were AMAZING), I drank three firefly and cranberry cocktails, and they were so good. If you have a place near you that sells Firefly sweet tea vodka, I highly recommend mixing it with cranberry juice and topping it with a slice of lime.

On TV this afternoon, Keith Hernandez called the Atlanta pitcher "a human rain delay." Which I thought was hilarious. I'm so excited for baseball being back soon!

Before that, I caught up on some of the stuff on my DVR.

Steven Universe: Rocknaldo, Tiger Philanthropist, Room for Ruby
In theory I under understand what they were trying to do with "Rocknaldo," but ugh, I find Ronaldo so unpleasant to spend time with that the episode basically failed for me.

Because I don't care much about Lars (though I perhaps relate a little too closely to his "Now get out of here and stop taking such a personal interest in my happiness and well-being!" response to Steven), "Tiger Philanthropist" was also not high on my list of enjoyable episodes, though I did like the Steven and Amethyst part, and I thought the wrestling stuff was fairly hilarious. I also get that this had a meta edge as well, about giving fans the things they ask for (or not) and also how to make a proper and emotionally satisfying ending. I just feel like Lars never learns, grows, or improves and I don't enjoy spending time with him.

"Room for Ruby" gave GREAT Lapis, and I am so here for that, and as much as this show likes to give Steven's antagonists face-turns, I'm so glad Lapis was right, because I found Navy's naivete and voice SO GRATING. NOBODY'S THAT WELL-ADJUSTED. She's a bit of a sociopath though, eh? As Steven said, she could have just stolen the ship, but no! She had to torture them with pretending to want to be friends first, just so she could see their faces when she betrayed them! I also loved Garnet at the end with the two balloons. It was worth the effort, and she wanted Steven to know that - there was a small possibility that Navy was genuine, I guess - but sometimes things don't work out and the person you trusted is going to shove you out of a spaceship and laugh about it maniacally.

I also watched the season finale of Star Wars Rebels: Zero Hour, though I had to hunt the first half hour down online since for some reason my DVR only recorded the second half. (Was the first half not listed as "new"? I honestly don't understand how this works sometimes, but it's infuriating.)

Oh geez, Kanan, I'm pretty sure you're not going to live to see the end of this series, but I was really afraid for you when you were like, "Ezra, I don't have anything left to teach you!" At least, Ezra, for all his dumbassery, knows how good Kanan has been for him, even though I rolled my eyes hard enough to strain something when Kanan was like, "You're so special, Ezra!" Ugh.

Luckily, this episode gave us great Hera (I LOVE HER SO MUCH YOU GUYS, and clearly Thrawn's crush remains unabated) and great Sabine (I'm so glad she got to come into her own this season) and also some good Kanan, plus Rex, and Kallus didn't die! I was surprised - his "You talk to much" to Thrawn was hilarious. I liked that the Imperials lost not because Thrawn's plan was bad but because that one annoying admiral wanted glory instead of following orders. And Sato! Even though he was undercharacterized and we never got the Thrawn-Sato backstory I was expecting, I teared up a little when he sacrificed himself to get Ezra past the blockade (and his two loyal but faceless soldiers staying with him *sniff*).

Bendu was...whatever. Was he the spirit of the planet? I enjoyed him disappearing after that sick burn on Thrawn ("I see your defeat surrounding you like many arms in a cold embrace") but I don't get what the point of him was at all except to lion turtle it up here at the end, and turn the planet itself against the Empire so the Rebels could get away; not that he wasn't also shooting lightning at the Rebels. They just dodged better. Though I have to wonder how Thrawn is going to report that back to the Emperor and what he'll try to do with it. Is he just hanging out in the Force now with Qui-Gon or will he incarnate again once all these meddling kids are off his planet? (And why didn't we get any creepy giant rock spiders killing off stormtroopers? That seems like it would be right in the Star Wars wheelhouse.)

I liked the music in this episode as well.

I'm a little annoyed they completely dropped the "Ezra flirts with the dark side" storyline this season, and I feel like they wasted some time on stuff I didn't care about, and part of me is like, they're going to Yavin now? They just set up Dantooine two episodes ago!? but timelines have never been their strong suit.but overall it was pretty good.

So it didn't reach the emotional highs the s2 finale did, at least for me, but I don't think it could have?
