Brooklyn Nine Nine: Mr. Santiago
Did I know they'd cast Jimmy Smits as Amy's dad? I don't think I did! The sound I made when he showed up at the airport was quite high pitched! If Amy and Jake get married, we'll have a Santos-Lyman reunion! That mustache was pretty terrible, though I guess it felt appropriate to the character. The hierarchy of fonts! THE LION AND THE BARRACUDA! *dies* "We arrested a woman because we're feminists!" Oh Jake.
I was expecting more Holt-Mr. Santiago interaction (when oh when will Kyle Secor and Clark Johnson guest star?) but Holt-Pimento was rewarding in very unexpected ways. THE DOG SHOW. "She's...majestic." "Put on the dog show. Now." Breaking the beer bottle in the bar! And then getting the whole bar on board for their unexpected triumph! Just stop trash talking schnauzers, Holt! That is not okay!
The turkey plot had some hilarious moments - "Why do you have an axe? Nice axe." "It's not a fair fight. Give the turkey a gun and it'd be okay." ♥ROSA♥ "The apartment will run red with the blood of Nikolaj!" I can't even.
The Flash: Killer Frost
Can I just say that never has Barry looked more Gansey-like than he looked in this episode. I don't know why! My brain has latched onto "Grant Gustin=Gansey" but most of the time I don't think about it, but last night it was in overdrive.
Anyway! GRUNBERG! it's so weird to see him in a non-JAbrams show. He was funnily on point though: "Allen, do you ever work?" I mean, we know Barry does all his work via super speed so he can appear to be the hapless and shirking employee Julian thinks he is, but it must look terrible to everyone else, even if all his work somehow gets done. I mean, Julian's not wrong! Calling Barry's moral compass broken because he values friendship over justice is actually true, even though I think the show doesn't think so. But Julian making him resign in return for his silence about Caitlin felt like an appropriate punishment, though how anyone but Joe makes a living on this show continues to baffle me. Are they being funded by the Wayne Foundation? Oh, I know, they could take HR's idea and make Star Labs over into The Flash Museum! That could be hilarious, having to keep nosy visitors out of the sensitive areas.
Caitlin! I still feel like they did a super poor job of showing why her powers were making her evil - is this what happens to 99% of metas and that's why so few turn into heroes in this verse? - but I enjoyed her being very good at being bad, and also at calling Barry on his shit.
CISCO! YOU REMAIN THE BEST! CURSE YOUR DOPENESS VIBE!
I guess HR is growing on me, but I still want Earth-2 Harry back.
Wally is finally Kid Flash, so I hope they do fun things with him instead of boring things.
