so time to pay the piper for the pants you unbuckled

Today was my follow up appointment at the salon after my five hour experience last month. I was assured this would be much shorter! The color was already in place, this was just a gloss to lift it and also a touch-up for my roots.

Well. Those of you who follow me on tumblr already know that that was a lie. I spent FOUR AND HALF HOURS there today. I mean, technically, that is shorter, but ugh, I kept waiting to be done and I kept not being done. I sat down in the chair at 11 am and walked out at 3:30 pm. First we had the partial highlights, which is apparently what "lifting" the color means, then we had covering the roots, and then finally we had the gloss, which I still don't know what it is or what it does, but it didn't get added to the bill, so I guess I can't complain too much. At the end, they were like, "You're going to have it blow dried, right?" and I was like, "NOPE NOPE NOPE. Dry it enough so it's not staining my shirt and let me go home!" I don't understand why it all took so long, but I don't ever want to do it again.

Otoh, the color is really lovely and red and I've already gotten complimented on it, but my god, nobody should spend a total of nine and a half hours over two visits to get their hair dyed. that is just ludicrous. I mean, it's not even burgundy, which was my original goal. I don't even know.

I did buy a special Turby towel to use while it's in this stage where it will stain everything while it's wet, because the old beach towel I was using just was not cutting it, and I didn't want to use the Turby towels I already have (I have accumulated a few for various reasons, and I love them a lot).

I was amused that it was like 80s flashback weekend in the salon, though. Early on, "Eye of the Tiger" played and I texted
angelgazing that I had a good feeling about things going quickly
but clearly my optimism was misplaced. But then the music segued into 70s and 80s R&B so that was fine. Sometimes they play EDM and I'm just like, "man, I am too old for this music to be this loud," but at least the music was enjoyable.

Anyway, I hadn't eaten all day because I figured I would be done by one so I could just grab lunch and ha! ha! So much for that! I mean, I did get coffee on my way to the salon, because I knew I would need it, but that was it until I got home and ate a handful of chocolate covered blueberries and drank another iced coffee. Yesterday, when making plans with L. for dinner tonight, I was like, "my hair appointment is at 11 am, so drinks and dinner at 5 pm should give me more than enough time right? Haha!" and then when I didn't get home until 4 pm I was like, holy shit, how is that even possible?) So I had some excellent chicken fingers and tater tots along with a lot of Blue Moon because apparently they have $10.50 pitchers on special, which is an amazing price. ANd then it was pouring when we left the bar, and I refused to get out from under the canopy until it stopped because my hair would have run all over my shirt (a different one than I wore to get it done), but it was only like a minute or two. Very brief but intense shower, I guess. The sun was still shining.

Anyway, I have been banned from watching the hockey game because every time I watch the Pens score, and I do not want that, so maybe I'll pick up the BoB rewatch now. I dunno.
