What I'm reading Wednesday:
What I've just finished
Failure Is Not an Option: Mission Control From Mercury to Apollo 13 and Beyond by Gene Kranz, which is an interesting look at the US space program from Mercury through Apollo. Still mind-blowing that they went to the moon with such rudimentary technology.
(Speaking of going to the moon, I had to laugh that Neil DeGrasse Tyson got into it with that flat earth rapper dude [mostly because if I don't laugh I might cry], but why aren't we talking about the cloning centers? Are we about to be flooded with Tatiana Maslanys? I'm not complaining. I just...can I get a Chris Evans clone? Inquiring minds want to know!)
What I'm reading now
City of Blades by Robert Jackson Bennett. FINALLY. I am enjoying it a lot, especially having Mulaghesh as the POV character, though it deals with some heavy shit, which will require some thinking (and a reread of City of Stairs, which I didn't get around to last weekend).
SIGRUD JUST SHOWED UP. I BET THAT MEANS SHIT'S ABOUT TO GET EVEN REALER.
What I'm reading next

The Flash
There were things I liked about this episode - Iris forgiving Francine/Wally coming to find Iris at the end; "Don't slurp" and "To me, this is Earth-2"; Hunter Zolomon!!!; "This is [Thawne's] origin story" - but I feel like there was so much idiot plotting - DON'T TAUNT THE TIME TRAVELER AND GIVE HIM IDEAS GUYS - and douchebaggery - Barry, what the fuck? - that overall I can't say I enjoyed it much.
Also, just a note to the writers, while MS is a terrible disease, it's not one that generally makes you fight for your life every day. I am just saying. My sister has it, and it has definitely had an impact on her life, but come on.
Brooklyn Nine Nine
+DOUG JUDY!!
+HOLT CAN'T EVEN
+"Fun? I was never fun. You take that back!"
+"You found me. Drinking seltzer. In the shadows." Once again, Andre Braugher makes comedy gold of everything he's given.
+"ROSA ROSA ROSA"
+"It's called a 'tang.'"
+BLANKET FORT
+Diaz 'laying it on thick' = 'offering the guy a mint'. Ha! Too real about NYC apartment hunting though.
+"I love you." "Noice. Smort. I love you too." Oh heart. If Jake hadn't said it back, I would have thrown my remote at the tv. I'm impressed about how they took me from completely not wanting Jake/Amy to shipping it. Good job, show. Keep up the good work!
Agent Carter
I knew Wilkes wasn't dead. I hope the show is smart enough to use his invisibility as a metaphor (and that he becomes corporeal soon), but I'm not holding my breath.
Peggy + the punching bag = AMAZING. And Jarvis, helping her beat the assassin. I heart their partnership so much, you guys! ("I don't want to become a disembodied voice." Oh, JARVIS.) And Howard being aware of how awesome they both are! I have to admit, the Dominic Cooper version of Howard is highly entertaining in measured doses, even if I want to punch him in the face a lot. Like father, like son, I guess.
The exchange about the comic book movie! And of course Peggy would want to be the cowboy. I'd say I'm surprised it wasn't a Captain America movie, but I don't think Howard is emotionally ready to direct something like that. Well, "direct."
I think everything they're doing with Whitney Frost is pretty great.
I love that Peggy told Thompson off; I mean, it was harsh but also true. Ugh, he's so venal, it's great. I feel like he's going to end up doing the right thing but in a way that causes the most trouble for everyone else.
Needs more Ana. Also Rose. And I'm glad they've realized that Enver Gjokaj is dreamy. Sigh.

It's in the 40s today, and supposed to get there repeatedly for the rest of the week, so melting is happening, which is great, except for the ginormous puddles at the corners. Snow is great for about fifteen minutes and then it's just miserable. Hopefully this will mostly be gone before we get anything new.
