December 17 -
tsuki_no_bara asked what's my favorite thing to bake!
The answer changes, because I go through phases where I'll make the same cake or cupcakes week after week because it's my new favorite, and then I'll abruptly decide I don't want them anymore and it's time to try something new. (I also over play songs I love sometimes. It's a problem.) I have some favorites I can fall back on that are easy and quick and for which I usually have ingredients on hand.
These chocolate cupcakes are a favorite for that reason.
This crumb cake is also great, and I've made it pretty often for gifting purposes. And of course,
these cheesecake cupcakes, which I made last night for our office holiday potluck today, which are very popular and for which I get requests.
I think my thing is that while I love baking, I don't like fussiness - I don't have the space for recipes that require five different bowls and for things to be mixed up and put aside for later. I mean, I do that when it's necessary, but I also take a lot of shortcuts to avoid using extra bowls or having to find space for things to sit and wait. Like, in that cheesecake recipe, I don't whisk the flour and sugar together before sprinkling it on the cream cheese. It all goes in the bowl at the same time. *hands*
In other news, I have 500 words of yuletide now. I can maybe do it? I mean, I know what things need to happen, it's just a question of writing. Ha. Isn't it always?
I'm also kind of regretting my choice to wait to see Star Wars until Saturday. Ugh. If you spoil me, I'll make you wish you'd been Force choked. I have already added all permutations to my tumblr blacklist, and I plan to avoid the internet as much as possible tonight and tomorrow, so I'm trying to take responsibility for my own level of spoiled, but the internet is a cooperative endeavor, so help a fangirl out and don't be a dick.
In the meantime, have some
interesting meta about Princess Leia.
