Late yesterday afternoon, just as I was packing up to leave work, I suddenly got the shakes, and felt all clammy and also like I might pass out. I don't know what it was, but ugh, what a terrible feeling. I got a bag of M&Ms from the vending machine and wolfed them down to feel steady enough to make the commute home, and by the time I got home I ( Read more... )

Oh man. Best Years of Our Lives is AMAZING. I didn't find it depressing at all -- it's about these vets, whose lives were completely upended by the war, trying to find their places in the world in the aftermath, both among their loved ones and out in the larger society. It's about recovery more than anything. It's made me cry several times when I first watched it, but sort of... cathartic tears? And there is this relationship between a PTSDy vet and the daughter of his old squad leader, which is, like, the prototype of ALL the romances (and fanfic!) involving someone recovering from PTSD. It's super-tropey but done so well. My buttons, they were pushed hard, I tell you.

I think it'd be right up your alley, actually.

UGH IT IS THE HEAT, I AM SURE. I've had intermittent moments of clammy woozy deathcreeps for the last couple of days (except for today, which has been lovely) and I definitely blame the FIREY RAYS OF THE ACCURSED DAYSTAR.

It probably is the heat, but I'll still take it over the kind of winters we've had the past couple of years. I loathe being cold more than anything.
