I didn't intend to watch Gotham last night, but then I saw Ben Edlund had written it, and I thought, if Edlund can't make this watchable, I'm truly out for good. Spoilers: It wasn't terrible! In fact, it was only about half-bad! Though I still am not planning to keep up with it. ( actual spoilers )

I dislike the "love triangle" with Hawley. Like the sisters don't have ENOUGH tension? We need a dude too? No, show. No. Ich's dislike of him also bothers me some, bc it feels like more of the "I MUST DISLIKE HIM BC ABBIE MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN HIM AND THE VIEWERS SHIP ABBIE AND I". Bah.

My guess (hope) though is that Hawley been brought on in the hopes viewers will become emotionally engaged with him before he dies horribly in the apocalypse. Someone has to, and they're not going to kill off anyone in the main cast just yet.

I also suspect we will be seeing more of Young Corbin.

Best line this week- "Because he wore a raccoon on his head." Her delivery is flawless.

See, I feel like Ichabod's dislike of him is totally in character and organic, because he's a mercenary and Ichabod would dislike that! I don't even dislike Hawley from a shipping perspective (I mean, I do, but not because I expect the show to give me Abbie/Ichabod), but from a taking valuable screentime away from Miss Jenny perspective.

I really hope he dies in some horribly apocalyptic way.

That was good! But I think I'm partial to "That arachnid fellow." Or maybe "We should probably donate blood sometime this year."

the love triangle annoys me so much. i like hawley because he irritates ichabod and ichabod irritates him, but their bickering has the flavor of boys fighting over a girl which is annoying as hell. even if the girl is all "boys will you KNOCK IT OFF" and not romantically interested in either of them at all. and jenny giving hawley the stink-eye because she's hot for him and he's hot for her sister and she's ~jealous~ or some shit? oh please. it's boring, tired, and lazy, and the mills sisters are so much better than that ( ... )

Yeah this idea that Jenny and Abbie would be at odds over a man - while trying to stave off the apocalypse! - is SO DUMB. It has to have network interference written all over it.

All of the Abbie and Ichabod pop culture moments were great. That arachnid fellow! Yes indeed.
