you will love no one but the wind and ache of your bones

I have started my remix! Well, I have written a few sentences and deleted them, anyway. And chosen about three different remix subtitles. Baby steps! It's not the original story I planned to remix, nor is it the other story I thought I was going to remix instead. We have a dark horse contender! That will be completely obvious to anyone who's ever read a story by me. *hands*

Once that's done, hopefully I can find the energy to write the post-Winter Soldier stories I want to write, including, but not limited to:

1. The Only Map You'll Need: Steve/Bucky sex throughout the years

2. I set fire to my maps: the one where the Winter Soldier keeps crashing Natasha's road trip of self-discovery

3. Steve and Sam's (with occasional Natasha) epic road trip to find Bucky. Hijinks - or even shenanigans - may ensue.

4. searching the underworld, an arrow in my heel: the angsty version of the above road trip (Steve/Bucky as Achilles/Patroclus references always)

and the wsip that will have to be revised slightly to conform more to post-movie canon:

5. Where There's Smoke...: the one where Steve is a terrible cook and also friends with the local firefighters, while Bucky pines in the background

6. The Map Is Not the Territory: Steve/Natasha undercover married. (Apparently I really like titles with the word "map" in them.)

7. Stop clicking your red heels and wishing for home: STEEEEEEEEEEEEVE FEEEEEEEEEELS. (he got that reference.)

As much as I hate the lack of mental energy that's been keeping me from writing, the upside of it is I don't get really angry at fandom when it irritates me. I thought about writing a rant, but the idea of making it both pointed and clear enough to be understood is exhausting, so you're spared that at least. I'll just shake my tiny ineffectual fist in your direction and attempt to catch up on comments instead.

Last night, I went out with L to the bar and saw D for the first time in what is probably at least a year, maybe two. She's the same as ever, but we made it an early night, and I had three pints, so I was very mellow about it.

That also means I don't have much to say about Elementary.
selenak's review says some things I've been thinking, though I am one of those people annoyed by the Mycroft/Joan business, for a couple reasons. I also agree with the AV Club reviewer (and many fans), who feel the show has kind of been idling this season. I hope these last few episodes see a little shakeup of the status quo for next season.

Today's poem:

What The Oracle Said

You will leave your home:
nothing will hold you.
You will wear dresses of gold; skins
of silver, copper and bronze.
The sky above you will shift in meaning
each time you think you understand.
You will spend a lifetime chipping away layers
of flesh. The shadow of your scales
will always remain. You will be marked
by sulphur and salt.
You will bathe endlessly in clear streams and fail
to rid yourself of that scent.
Your feet will never be your own.
Stone will be your path.
Storms will follow in your wake,
destroying all those who take you in.
You will desert your children
kill your lovers and devour their flesh.
You will love no one
but the wind and ache of your bones.
Neither will love you in return.
With age, your hair will grow matted and dull,
your skin will gape and hang in long folds,
your eyes will cease to shine.
But nothing will be enough.
The sea will never take you back.
