I won't disturb the slumber of feelings that have died

Work, please stop interrupting my effusive, ebullient, EMOTIONAL ramblings about Captain America: The Winter Soldier! I woke up TWO HOURS EARLY this morning BECAUSE I COULDN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT IT (hence the super early post from earlier). So uh, there is a lot of flaily capslock under the cut that nobody else is going to be able to enjoy until ( Read more... )

otp: it'll be fun, otp: not without you, avengers assemble, this is captain america calling, epic tragic century long love story, movies

Such a good movie! I mean, nothng will beat Avengers which was pretty much the perfect superhero movie, but this wasn't a superhero movie as such and was Wonderful!

I'm so glad that you spotted the quote on the grave because I thought that too but have only seen Pulp Fiction once so really wasn't sure.

I do feel for having the tag 'The Winter Soldier' there was surprisingly little Winter Soldier in the film (we counted his lines on the second viewing and without the flashback scene he had less than ten lines in the whole film!) But it sets up bith his and Steve's paths from now on so well.

We were talking about the Natasha and Bucky backstory (because they gave a date of birth for her too) and figured it'd probably be really easy to retcon that to the Red Room if you wanted just because of the memory wipe thing. But at the same time it does make the possibility of a Black Widow movie harder if that was the story they were going to tell.

What I really need is for someone to analyse all the names on the kill list, because Claire (who I was watching this with) did not think that the New York name was Stark (she says it looked like too long a surname). Incidentally - Maria at Stark Industries - taking over the world with Pepper or weeding out Hydra agents? And did she see all the names (can't remember, sorry) because if so ... I don't know what, but something!

I love that they made Steve the snark-master! That was the leader of the Howling Commandos who had Bucky as a best friend. And while we pretty much only see him talking to Natasha he is obviously comfortable chatting/flirting with Sharon and not a stuttering mess (take that fanon!)

Sorry - I have many feelings! Saw it twice yesterday and am going again on Saturday. Whereupon more feelings will happen I am sure!

I think it might even be better than Avengers, if only because it was much more intensely emotional for me. The emotional hook in Avengers is Thor's story, and I love Thor, and I feel terrible for him that his brother is such a genocidal dick, but it doesn't give me the same kind of emotional response that Steve and Bucky do.

He wasn't in it much, but I thought his absence/presence loomed large over it, especially knowing who he was while Steve didn't. Also, that final post credits scene! MY HEART.

Yeah, though I think they could also do a Natasha v. Yelena Black Widow movie, or the Name of the Rose (though without the WWII background, I guess), or in fact that date is just a cover, and even Natasha doesn't know the truth. I would totally watch a Black Widow movie where she tries to find out about her own past because it's been taken from her.

Banner, maybe?

Both! God, I am just enjoying how ANNOYED Tony is going to be to have Maria Hill around all the time. Ha!
