Even the night was lonely next to me

Jan 13, 2014 13:55

I'm having that thing where I'm sleepy - my eyes just don't want to stay open! - but not really tired. You know what I mean?

Yesterday, for dinner, I attempted a parmesan cream sauce, but it was...blah. I guess I didn't cook the roux long enough because it just tasted like flour to me, and I also made this sausage-tortellini stew in the crockpot for my dad's meals for the week. It was pretty easy and my dad said it tasted good when I made him check if the tortellini were cooked (since I used frozen instead of fresh), and it made 6 days' worth of dinners to put in the freezer, so I'm considering that a win. I'm collecting large-batch crockpot recipes for this purpose, even of things that I don't eat, so you'll probably be hearing a lot about it.

I didn't feel well on Saturday, which was less the hangover (I kind of drank a bottle of wine on Friday night at L's? I don't know. I was the only one drinking white, but when I went to refill my glass one last time, the bottle was empty. *hands*) than I don't even know what, but once I got out to the island, I napped for a few hours instead of doing anything productive, which is fine considering it rained like cats and dogs, but made yesterday a little busier than it could have been.

But yesterday I also woke up at 7:30 and started writing, so even though I got interrupted a lot (A LOT), I did finally post the "everyone thinks Steve and Bucky are already a couple!" that I started writing for
angelgazing a while back before yuletide.

It's like the oblivious leading the clueless.

I like how it turned out. It amuses me and it amuses her, so I'm good with that. I'm glad some other people found it funny too.

Also, I discovered that for years I've been wrong about the meaning of the term "don't shine me on" - I was going to have Bucky use it, but it turns out to have come into common usage in the 60s, so too late, but also, I always thought it meant "don't bullshit me," but apparently it's "don't brush me off." At least according to Mr. Google.

You learn something new every day. After which, I say we should all be able to go home and nap. Sigh.
