so who am i, that i should be vying for your touch?

I have had a lot of caffeine today, and only a big salad to absorb it, so I might be a little (more) scattered. The big salad was good, btw. The crunchy Thai chicken salad from Just Salad, though I feel like maybe celery is unnecessary. I knew it was there, but it was a surprise every time. Also, because I am a wimp, I had them switch out the spicy peanut dressing for balsamic. Regardless, it was tasty and crunchy, though sadly lacking in cheese. I feel like every salad should have cubed fresh mozzarella in it.

Anyway! Nobody cares about my salad!

I went to see Pacific Rim this morning (though I did not know there was a scene after the credits, so I left. Curses! But if you haven't seen it yet, now you know!) and I thoroughly enjoyed it. And now I understand why there are already 9 million fusions and AUs, because it is the perfect setup for your OTP (or even OT3). But mostly my takeaway was that Mako Mori was Cass Cain and Stacker Pentecost (!!) was Bruce Wayne, and I had a lot of Batfamily feels. Also, still too many interchangeable white guys with accents that never quite settled though I liked that one of them was immediately killed off; usually that's the black guy or the girlfriend. But like I said, I enjoyed it. I mean, all I wanted was giant robots punching giant monsters and Idris Elba giving a rousing speech, and it pretty much delivered on all counts. I will admit that Godzilla v. King Kong is my favorite Godzilla movie (although I am fond of Godzilla v. Mothra too), so I was pretty sure I would enjoy it.

I did have some trouble parsing the dialogue because of the sound mixing, but also my hearing is pretty shitty when there is background noise. I look forward to the blu-ray where I can turn on the captioning. And then I can wince at the workmanlike dialogue. *hands* The fights sure looked nice though and I guess it got the job done. Also, DADDY-DAUGHTER FEELS ABOUND. Which I guess is covered under the Cass-Bruce comparison, but it was lovely to get that in a genre overly-devoted to daddy issues, which they could have neatly side-stepped by making Hercules or his jerkass son (what even was his name? He was so generic except for his cute dog) a woman. I know the Russians were a married couple lady/man team, but they didn't even have any lines.

Of course, I almost missed the movie - it was the 10:25 am matinee (only $11.50 for 3D!) and I was dicking around online and suddenly realized I needed to go (it's not even a 10 minute walk, but in the heat I am a little slower), but then I walked into the theater and got situated and realized I was in the wrong theater and had to walk out of Despicable Me 2 and into the right one. I only missed the commercials though, so it was all right.

After the movie, I went grocery shopping because I am going to a fangirl gathering tomorrow and need to bring a dessert. Stay tuned for what I decide to make. (Sadly, s'mores pie is out because no marshmallow fluff.)

Then I ate my big salad, removed Pacific Rim from tumblr savior, and caught up on tumblr. If you have posted about it, please link me!

Oh, I also read Avengers Assemble 17(?I think) and IF THEY DIDN'T WANT ME TO SHIP IT, THEY SHOULDN'T HAVE THEM EXCHANGE DIALOGUE LIKE THIS:

Steve: Great. I'll have your partner meet you there.
Carol: My partner?
Steve: Yeah. I have the perfect fella in mind.

AND THEN STEVE SHOWS UP TO BE HER PARTNER. I AM JUST SAYING. DANGERS. SPECIAL CAPTAIN TIME. PLEASE MAKE OUT WHEN YOU ARE DONE FIGHTING ALIENS.

And in my last bit of exciting news, my tiny purple polka-dotted crockpot arrived today! I AM EXCITE. I mean, it is super small (but super cute!)? Only 2.5 qt capacity, so I will probably have to futz around with recipes to make them fit, once I have recipes. So, you know, if you have a good crockpot recipe, please to share.
