Things! Also, stuff!
= On Sunday evening, I got the urge to make ice cream, and very specifically, I went looking for a sweet tea ice cream recipe, and I found
this one, so I ran out to buy teabags (please refrain from your various lectures about 1. teabags, 2. iced tea because 3. I don't care. I only drink it iced.). Out of the machine, it didn't have much of a tea flavor, but I'd hoped that last night, after ripening in the freezer, it would be better, but while it has a nice creaminess to it, the tea is more of a scent and an aftertaste than a flavor. Maybe I will steep more teabags next time. Or find that sweet tea vodka, and add it, which I did not do this time. (P.S.: Sweet tea vodka + cranberry juice + seltzer and a splash of lime = excellent cocktail. Just so you know.)
= Since I had four egg whites left over, I added a whole egg and made mini cheese frittatas for breakfast this week.
= Which was a great idea, except I left both my breakfast and lunch on the kitchen counter yesterday instead of bringing them to work as intended. Sigh. I had to throw it all out when I got home last night, because of the heat, but I made sure this morning that both breakfast and lunch were in my (Wonder Woman) tote bag.
= Of course, I then walked out of the house without my Metrocard and iPod, and had to go back, but at least I'd only made it to the front door and not halfway up the block this time?
= I got my new lease and the increase is less bad than I expected, but I think, given the givens, I can only re-up for one year, and try to save some money for moving next year. We'll see how that goes. I solemnly swear to spend the next year throwing shit out and decluttering so as to make moving a less painful experience.
= Last night's Teen Wolf: Motel California
So
amberlynne told me that this episode was supposed to be the show's homage to The Shining and was supposed to be scary, and I said, "Actual scary or SPN 'scary'?" And it was basically the latter. While there were some BtVS-like moments (SCOTT AND STILES), it mostly reminded me of SPN, from the hunter blowing his head off in the cheesy motel room to the whatever it was appearing in the flames at the end (did they salt the parking lot afterwards? THEY SHOULD HAVE.).
I'm not sure the episode made a whole lot of sense? The werewolves had been infected with wolfsbane, but the motel was already haunted, and that's what Lydia was hearing (OH LYDIA HONEY), right? It just hit the werewolves harder because they were already primed?
I laughed at Chris Argent getting his Prince Humperdinck on (or, I guess, his Aragorn. They're taking the hobbits to Isengard! The werewolves to the lacrosse meet, I mean.). I guess they spent a lot of money on that ridiculous fight scene and didn't want to let it go to waste.
I'm not sure I like how they've used Boyd this season (has he said more than that one sentence where he tells Stiles they're not friends?), and I especially did not like that they LITERALLY FRIDGED his sister. WHAT THE FUCK SHOW? At least she got a name, though, unlike the awesome WOC from the season opener.
I like that Ethan seems to actually like Danny (he was feeling out offering him the bite while he was feeling him up!) and that he grudgingly felt like he owed Scott (and Stiles, who was actually the one who saved him) and I guess we'll see what happens, but it was nice to see one of the alphas get some characterization finally. (No, growling evilly and declaring himself the DEMON WOLF does not really count). And that was also some nice character work with Danny - he likes his scars and wants to keep them because it makes him feel like a survivor. Oh, Danny. ♥ Please become a scooby soon.
I am also seriously amused that Jeff Davis et al. seem to be putting their fanfic up on screen, but I don't really care when their interests align so neatly with my id. To wit:
1. MS. BLAKE'S MAGICAL HEALING VAGINA. I AM SO ONBOARD FOR THIS ROMANCE I CAN'T EVEN TELL YOU. PLEASE DON'T KILL HER OR MAKE HER EVIL, SHOW. LET DEREK HAVE ONE NICE THING FOR ONCE.
2. SCOTT AND STILES IN THE PARKING LOT OMG. "You're my best friend. I need you. You're my brother. So if you're gonna do this, then you're gonna have to take me with you." IT'S AS IF THEY KNOW ME. I SHIP IT SO HARD, GUYS. Well, mostly as an OT3 with Allison, but you know, BFF SHIPPING IS MY THING. AND IN CONCLUSION, BROTHERS. Ahem. So that was sort of a BtVS yellow crayon moment but also very Sam'n'Dean-ish, which I've missed since breaking up with SPN. So possibly I might have to write some Scott/Stiles makeouts while Scott finally watches Star Wars. I'm thinking about it, anyway.
3. TEAM HUMAN SAVING THE DAY. Basically Allison is my favorite thing so far this season, and I liked that she and Stiles didn't dismiss Lydia, but that they worked together. MORE OF THAT, PLEASE.
And then Gerard at the end. WTF? I missed Michael Hogan's name in the credits so I was shocked. And of course, Deucalion bit Alexander Argent (of the French-Canadian Argents what?). I wonder what Gerard knows about Deucalion and the alpha pack and vice versa.
And in the promo for next week
PLEASE TELL THE SHERIFF! THAT IS ALL I ASKED FOR FROM THIS SEASON. Well, and Allison and Lydia being awesome, but I'm getting the latter in spades, so PLEASE FILL THE SHERIFF IN. Also, Deaton gets more stuff to do! Don't waste Seth Gilliam guys! He can do a lot and look super pretty while doing it.
= Lastly, I wrote fic yesterday! Once I realized that the story I was working on was two different stories and split them up, the porn flowed freely on this one. *snerk*
The Wake Up Call (@
AO3)
Push; Nick/Cassie; adult; 2,375 words
Nick knows he needs Cassie--loves her--more than anything or anyone else in the world. But it's not until this moment that he recognizes that he wants her.
Nightswimming with a side of first time porn. *hands* I never said I wasn't self-indulgent.
