So Matt Bomer is voicing Superman in a new animated movie (Superman Unbound, with Stana Katic as Lois and Molly Quinn as Kara and John Noble as Brainiac and Stephen Root as somebody) and there's an interview with him about it, and at the end, the guy says to him (paraphrasing), now that you've played Superman, how would you feel about doing a superhero movie? and Bomer is like, yeah, that'd be great, and the interviewer says: who would you want to play? it could be anyone. And Bomer's immediate answer is "NIGHTWING. Just saying. Putting it out there." (gif set on my tumblr here)

I know WB/DC won't get their act together enough to actually make a Nightwing movie anytime soon, but oh my god, how good could it be with Bomer as Dick? And my personal fancasting of Beyonce as Starfire. And maybe Jessica Chastain as Babs. I don't know who would play Donna, but Donna would need to be there, too (and maybe Gina Torres cameos as Diana?) [eta:
moetushie suggests Lena Headey, and I was thinking maybe Kerry Washington? /eta]. And Cass. (I'd love for Helena to be there, but with her and Dinah on Arrow, I don't know if they'd muddy the waters like that. And JLaw as Steph?)
(Of course, you say "Nightwing movie" and I think "LADIES." Because of course. I suppose Tim could be there, too.)
I don't think they could do an origin story without Bruce, so that could be recapped quickly before the credits. They could set it in Bludhaven, so it didn't impinge on Batman's territory/movies (though I would totally go for a Jon Hamm as Bruce cameo, since it's my fantasy movie we're discussing here), and do a version of Officer Grayson, or a less rapey, more plausible, streamlined version of the Blockbuster arc. Or they could do an "undercover in the mafia" story that makes actual sense (and ends up with Rose and Sophia as his little sidekicks.) I am being good here and not even thinking about a Jason story. (Mostly because I can't figure out who you'd cast as Jason. Ian Somerhalder has the coloring and the crazy eyes, but that idea doesn't excite me.)
I'm just going to be happy thinking about this all day, since it will never exist.
