Here's a hilarious review of Picnic from the New York Times.

an excerpt:
The Roundabout Theater Company’s revival of William Inge's "Picnic" opened on Sunday night, starring an exceptionally well-developed torso. Of course the torso belongs to a person, the actor Sebastian Stan. But it has been given the kind of lavish individual attention that ( Read more... )

EIN IS ADORABLE!

Cowboy Bebop does have a really excellent dub, I actually prefer it

That's what people said, so that is why I went with it. And I like it, plus it doesn't tax my brain like subtitles would.

I appreciate that Cowboy Bebop is a really interesting piece of anime history and art, without being like YES THIS IS THE ONE I LOVE.

*nod nod*

I know what you mean. I'm enjoying it so far - I think my love for Firefly helps with that, though.

I liked Samurai Champloo a lot more, which is by the same guy, but it's more straight-forward in its storytelling and also a lot more action packed.

You're the third or fourth person who's mentioned Samurai Champloo, so maybe I will give it a go.

I'm still not sure why I keep bouncing off FMA: Brotherhood, but I might have to give that a fourth shot, too.

i think Brotherhood really doesn't seem like it has much heart at the beginning, because it quite clearly thinks that you must have watched the first anime up until at least the point where the comic splits off from the original show and everything goes to crazytown. Brotherhood WHIZZES through the events that take up more than half of the first series, and does them in like 10 or so episodes so that it can get to the new/real stuff at the end ( ... )

I think my main problem is that I disliked Ed in the first two episodes I watched. Which makes me disinclined to continue.

Maybe I'd like him better in the manga? I don't know.

Fifthed. It's excellent, and its first episode is high up on my list of great, introductory first episodes. If you watch the dub, you'll recognize Mugen's voice. Some fans have jokingly posited that Spike is a descendent of his.
