and the song just keeps on repeating, drop the needle again.

Ugh, this day. I am so glad to be home on my couch. Let us not speak of how tomorrow will be more of the same, but once it's over, it's the blessed friggin' weekend.

Instead, let us speak of the Gaslight Anthem, who I saw in concert last night, with the lovely and talented estrella30. IT WAS AWESOME! We met a charmingly adorable dude from Scotland who said his claim to fame was that he'd seen the band every time they played in Scotland, and now he was seeing them in NYC! There was also a guy who tried to chat me up, which I found kind of hilarious, because he started out pretty well - he said I looked like I was having a great time so he decided to join me - but then he kept TALKING while the band was PLAYING. I mean, I realize we spent the whole night standing at the bar instead of out on the dancefloor, but that is because I AM OLD. I NEED A PLACE TO LEAN. My back hurt this morning anyway, but that was more my period arriving, I think, or a combination of standing for a couple of hours and my period. WHATEVER. ANYWAY. My point is, I don't know how other people are? And maybe standing at the bar is kind of a signal that you are less into it than people out in the middle of the crowd, but me, I AM THERE TO LISTEN TO THE BAND. SO PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO CHAT. Like, five seconds of "I LOVE THIS SONG!" or "What did he say?" is fine (I almost never understand what they are saying when they talk, at any concert ever), but 1. as I said, my priority is MUSIC over dudes, and 2. I CAN'T HEAR YOU ANYWAY so I just feel uncomfortable and awkward as I smile politely at you and nod. I mean, I have enough trouble hearing people over regular background noise, let alone at a fucking ROCK CONCERT. (NB: Scottish dude spoke to us BEFORE the show; big difference.) Anyway, I felt kind of bad when the guy wandered back to his friends, but, like, I JUST WANT TO ROCK OUT TO GASLIGHT ANTHEM. I DON'T WANT TO TALK TO PEOPLE (other than the people I actually went with).

Ahem.

Anyway, I tried to type up a set list on my phone as it was happening, but ended up with some ??? in the middle because of chatty dude and because my memory is bad so I couldn't recreate the order afterwards.

You can see the actual setlist here... I was pretty close. *g* I think the only things I really wanted to hear and didn't were "Meet Me By the River's Edge" and "Handwritten." Oh, and I guess "Old White Lincoln" and "High and Lonesome."

Anyway, I really loved hearing them live and I would totally go again (especially since the ticket prices were so reasonable - $36 with all the service charges!) and I got a cab pretty quickly once we got back outside and I was home by 11:45, and in bed by 12:30. Which was good because I had to be up at 6:30 so I could be into work by 8 for a meeting. Ugh. But we are not talking about that.

GASLIGHT ANTHEM IS AWESOME AND YOU SHOULD LISTEN TO THEIR AWESOME MUSIC!
