we're offered Moet, we don't mind Chivas

So I bought the first season of Homeland on iTunes because I wanted to catch up and then it took FOREVER to download - like, I am talking near dialup speeds here - and I am watching it VERY SLOWLY, because it makes me INCREDIBLY TENSE. Like, I have to stop at about the 35 minute mark and get up and walk around and, like, wash the dishes or something, and there is still like, TWENTY MINUTES left in the episode. I'm still really conflicted about Damian Lewis possibly being a bad guy. MY BRAIN CAN'T HANDLE IT.

I wanted to catch up because I don't want to be inadvertently spoiled by, you know, commercials or EW.com or my bosses, but maybe I SHOULD spoil myself; maybe that would relieve the ridiculous amount of tension and anxiety that I have when I watch the show. I mean, I have enough anxiety about real life stuff, right? I don't need it from my TV shows, too. Anyway, I've seen the first five episodes of season 1, and it's really good, even if it is doing a number on my head.

I actually slept for a whole six hours last night, which is twice what I slept the night before. I don't know what's going on - if it's the change in the weather or my usual year-end malaise starting earlier and earlier every year, or what, but bleh. Do not want.

so I posted a story (of sorts) yesterday:

14 Tracks (at AO3)
Avengers (2012); Steve/Peggy, Steve/music, ensemble; g; 3,760 words
14 tracks from Steve's iPod and how they got on there.

It's funny because some of these were really clear in my head - Peggy, Coulson, Clint, Thor, Fury, Tony, Selvig - I knew what all of those were going to be as soon as I had the idea. Well, the song for Tony changed - originally Bruce was going to have Springsteen and Tony was going to have the Beatles (Let it Be, of course), but it seemed to work better this way. The ones that gave me the most trouble were Pepper and Natasha - originally, Natasha was going to have the Maria Hill section, because Natasha taking Steve undercover at a goth club = HILARITY but also seemed too on the nose? and I wanted to include Maria Hill, so Maria Hill: former goth was born. I also just envision Natasha's musical taste as tending towards Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits and others of that ilk more than industrial or goth or whatever. Also, I also almost labeled it Steve/Darcy, but it didn't want to go all the way there, so I didn't.

I dunno. Music is so personal and so important, except to people it isn't, and I don't really understand those people. Well, I don't really understand any people? But I understand people who don't love music even less.

In other news, I pre-ordered the Amazing Spider-man blu-ray so I can sob my way through it over and over in the privacy of my own home. #I JUST HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS ABOUT PETER PARKER OKAY.
