RIP Nora Ephron.

I feel like I should have a funny story to tell, but alas, I don't. I enjoyed some of her movies a lot, though.

On Monday, I finished Infidel, the sequel to God's War, and I really liked it. It's more tightly plotted and better paced than God's War, and just as brutal and compelling. Six years have passed since the first book, and Nyx has put a new team together, but old troubles come calling. I'm not sure how I feel about her dying and being revived - I thought it was seeded well - we know she survived burning herself etc. and there's all that talk about bel dames being hard to kill and making sure to dispose of the body completely, but I still feel like maybe it goes a little too far? I was like, "OH SHIT NYX IS DEAD WHAT NOW?" like it was actually a for real death, and I was super impressed (despite being sad because I like Nyx for all that she's almost pathologically unlikeable), and then to find out it wasn't was kind of a letdown. I don't know. *hands* I can't believe I have to wait until November for the next book. Arrgh!

Now I'm reading the last Vicky Bliss book and sadly, I don't think it's very good? I still like Vicky and Schmidt and John, but I'm mostly like, "Really? Really?" while I'm reading.

Last night, fleurdeleo and I had a really good dinner at the restaurant around the corner (not the one we went to with her out of town guests) and the service was really terrible. It was basically an all new waitstaff, which is kind of unfortunate, but the place was pretty busy, which was nice to see. And we had this really good bottle of moscato d'asti. If you like sweet fizzy white wines (which I do, having been raised on asti spumante), I would definitely recommend it.
