I should have been in bed two hours ago. Saw the movie again tonight, though, and this happened. *hands*

Captain America (movieverse); Steve/Bucky; pg; 1,320 words
Bucky knows him better than anyone, but Steve's pretty sure he doesn't know about this.

Bucky was his best friend--his only friend, really--the one who'd stood up for him when everybody else laughed. Because no girl had ever looked twice at a skinnymalink like him, but Bucky always had. He'd thought it was just one more defect, one he'd never tell another living soul about, and that becoming Captain America had cured it.
Oh Steve.

the hopeful ending almost breaks my heart because of everything that happens next.
I know! But I keep telling myself they meet again in the present day and all will be well!

This was a great read, quiet, understated, and I think it fits their characters so well. I really loved it.
Thanks for sharing, and quite possibly, bringing me into this fandom. :)

and heh. Yeah. Steve probably wasn't thinking about that part at all.
From gay to SUPERGAY! (or possibly SUPERBI or just SUPERGAY FOR BUCKY? I haven't thought enough about what I think about Steve.)
Me, neither, though I think maybe bi to SUPERBI for Steve. Though I could probably be convinced of SUPERGAY FOR BUCKY. I definitely bought into his relationship with Peggy, so I can't really go for SUPERGAY without qualifiers.
