Dig for Fire
X-Men: First Class; Charles, Alex, Scott Summers; g; 760 words
"I have a brother."

You guys, I don't even know. Proof that you should never say never, I guess. This ignores all other Scott origin stories. Title from the Pixies.

Yay for stories that end in hope!

Yeah, I wasn't really in the mood to write depressingly angsty Charles/Erik. And who better to help Charles get his hope back than bb!Scott! *g*

thanks for reading and commenting!

Yay! You're writing X-Men!

I had a whispered, "No, he's Scott's older brother and..." conversation with the beloved at the theater. Since she's never read nor will ever read the comics, I may convince her that your finding of Scott is canon!

Something I thought I would never do again! Which is teaching me to never say never!

It's so weird to me that Alex is older here, because Scott is kind of quintessentially an older brother, you know? But since that's what they gave me, I am happy to extrapolate! *g*

I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for letting me know.

Nice! Very touching. I want the next chapter. Speaking of which, did you ever write more Cordy and Batman?

And no, not yet. Maybe soon?

Yes, yes, yes. Everything about this, yes.

I've got a huge soft spot for Scott and to be honest the imagery of the duct tape over the eyes after a recent manifestation nearly killed me. Freaking awesome.

Your Charles voice was perfect and I loved him grasping for hope to be found somewhere with a near-silent and very dignified... not desperation really, but so near to despair that it might as well have been.

Gorgeous. This ficlet is love.

Thank you! I'm so happy you enjoyed it! I also have a soft spot for movieverse!Scott, which apparently hasn't gone away over the years. *g* I'm also glad Charles worked for you here. I think a lot of what comes off as dignity at this point is really him not knowing what the hell to do or say so he keeps quiet instead of making things worse by being socially awkward.

Yeah, it bothered me big time that in the third X-Men movie the only person who seemed to give a crap that he went missing was Logan. Like Storm suddenly didn't care about years of friendship and him leading the team.

Hee! Which definitely reads with the "peek behind the curtain" at what's really going on, but as it's all a matter of perception I kind of picture him all dignified and thoughtful looking except for in the eyes where really he's like "what the hell am I supposed to do now?". Just... yeah. Awesome fic.

I didn't even see X3. As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't exist. La la la I can't hear you!

I kind of picture him all dignified and thoughtful looking except for in the eyes where really he's like "what the hell am I supposed to do now?"

That's exactly what I was going for! I'm sure Erik or Raven would have picked up on the fact that he didn't know what the hell he was doing, but they're not there, and the kids... not so much with that.

Oh, I love this! My primary complaint with XMFC is that it lacked Scott-- my favorite character. This story fills in a blank. I hope this is the first in a series!!!!!!!

Thank you! I'm glad it worked for you. I'm not sure why they chose Alex instead of Scott in this movie, but yeah, it was a little weird.
